The coast guard was forced to open fire after being threatened by a Chinese fishing boat, Argentine officials said.

After the ship sank, four people on board, including three crew members and a captain, were rescued by the Argentine coast guard. The remaining crew members were taken to a fishing boat operating nearby, the coast guard said.

The Argentine Foreign Ministry has notified the Chinese consulate in the country. Chinese officials have not yet commented on the incident.
