Armenia is a landlocked country in the southern Caucasus, with an area of 29,800 km2, population nearly 3 million people. Located between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, Armenia is bordered to the north and east by Georgia and Azerbaijan, and to the south and west by Iran and Türkiye.

The Republic of Azerbaijan is a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Located at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, it borders the Caspian Sea to the east, Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia to the west and Iran to the south, with an area of 86,600 km² and a population of over 9 million.
Azerbaijan is a presidential republic. The head of state and head of government are separate from the country's legislative body. The people elect the president for a five-year term.
