ASEAN-China meeting on East Sea in Thailand
Thai media reported on October 1 that the country will host a closed-door meeting of senior officials from ASEAN and China this month.
The East Sea issue is expected to be the main topic discussed at the meeting.
The meeting was agreed upon by ASEAN foreign ministers at the ASEAN Informal Ministerial Meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, as Thailand is currently the coordinator for ASEAN-China relations. However, the specific timing of the meeting is still under negotiation.
According to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country also plans to organize an international conference on water resources management, to which it will invite countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and China.
