ASIAD 17: Bui Truong Giang brings home Silver medal for Vietnam

Martial artist Bui Truong Giang brought home the second silver medal on September 24 for the Vietnamese sports delegation in the men's 56kg wushu and sanshou event.

In the final match, Bui Truong Giang lost 0-2 to Chinese opponent Fuxiang Zao. With Truong Giang's silver medal, the Vietnamese wushu team also ended the competitions at ASIAD 17 with 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal and 4 bronze medals.

Bui Truong Giang was born on December 7, 1993 in Song An (Vu Thu, Thai Binh). After being recruited to the Thai Binh Sports Training Center in 2010, Truong Giang showed remarkable progress. During the 2011 National Youth Wushu Championship, Truong Giang competed outstandingly and won a bronze medal. This was the stepping stone for Truong Giang to be called up to the national youth wushu team.

Compared to previous generations in the national team, Truong Giang did not attract much attention. However, at ASIAD 17, he played very consistently. After a dominant semi-final match against Soukaphone Khamla (Laos), Truong Giang completely deserved a place in the final match.

Although he could not change history for Vietnamese wushu in the men's 56kg category, the silver medal is still an encouraging achievement for Truong Giang./.
