ASIAD 17 discovered the first doping case

Khurshed Beknazarov, a player for the Tajikistan Olympic team, became the first athlete at the ASIAD to be tested positive for doping.

Beknazarov tested positive for methylhexaneamine after the match against the Singapore Olympic Games on September 24. This substance is on the list of banned substances by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as well as the Medical Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia. Since 2009, it has been on the list of banned substances for the Asian Games. Doping cases like Beknazarov are mostly severely punished. The Olympic Committee of Asia and the AFC are very strict about doping in sports.

Beknazarov has been disqualified from the 17th Asian Games and banned from all football-related activities for the next 30 days. The ban could be extended for another 20 days. Beknazarov's punishment will be decided at a meeting of the AFC Disciplinary Committee and the Tajikistan Football Federation. If he cannot prove that he was doping unintentionally, Beknazarov could be banned for up to two years.

In early August, the AFC Disciplinary Committee issued a 2-year ban on two futsal players for doping, including Doan Ngoc Hao of Vietnam. This Thai Son Nam player tested positive for the banned substance levo-methamphetamine. Ngoc Hao explained that the reason for the doping was due to taking flu medicine without informing the doctor of the Vietnam futsal team, but failed to convince the VFF or the AFC.
