A Vietnamese worker in Malaysia was killed in a drunken brawl.

Malaysian media reported on June 21 that a young Vietnamese man died in a fight with a group of compatriots after drinking alcohol at a house in Sembilang, Seberang Jaya town, Penang state.

A police spokesperson said the victim, Nguyen Huu Giap, 25, a worker at a factory on Jelawat Road, was stabbed in the left chest and died at Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ).

He confirmed that the incident occurred at 11:50 PM on June 20th.

The victim was then taken to HSJ Hospital and died an hour later.

At the house, police seized a 29cm long vegetable knife, believed to be evidence, and detained 20 Vietnamese workers, including 5 women aged 20-30, for questioning.

All these people work in factories in the Perai industrial area.

Regarding the above incident, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia has sent a diplomatic note and contacted Malaysian authorities to investigate the matter.
