As someone with more than 10 years of experience raising buffalo and cows, every winter, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong's family in Tan Phong hamlet, Nghia Thang commune (Nghia Dan) urgently moves the buffalo and cows from the grazing area to raise at home.
"Currently, my family has 8 cows. To prevent diseases and hunger for livestock in winter, in addition to regular vaccinations, my family also proactively provides food sources such as sugarcane tops, straw, grass, cleans barns, and gives buffalo and cows warm water mixed with diluted salt, so the herd is still healthy, develops, and reproduces well" - Ms. Hong said.

In Nghia Hung commune - one of the localities with a strong livestock and poultry raising movement in Nghia Dan, with a total herd of over 1,200 buffaloes, nearly 2,500 pigs, and over 35,000 chickens. Every year, during the cold season, the commune focuses on directing hamlets to implement hunger and cold prevention work for livestock and poultry.
Mr. Le Van Tien's family in Hamlet 13 - Nghia Hung Commune has 6 buffaloes and cows. Although they have a grazing area, the family still takes advantage of the vacant land around the house to grow elephant grass for the buffaloes and cows to eat. Through training courses organized by the district veterinary staff, his family has also applied livestock raising techniques in the cold winter days, the barns are carefully covered.

Mr. Le Van Tien said: Recently, the local authorities have been regularly propagandizing about the cold weather that will continue, so my family has proactively covered the barns and lined the floor with straw for the buffalo and cows. Proactively source food, supplement nutrients, ensure that the buffalo and cows grow well and do not get sick during the long cold days.
Nghia Dan is an agricultural district, in which cattle and buffalo raising accounts for a large number of animals each year. Currently, the district has more than 6,000 cows, over 18,000 buffaloes, 25,000 pigs; 850,000 poultry. Therefore, to stabilize and develop livestock raising, from the beginning of the year, the District People's Committee directed the establishment of a Steering Committee for disease prevention and control of livestock and poultry.

Mr. Phan Van Binh, Vice Chairman of Nghia Dan District People's Committee said: "To ensure prevention of hunger and cold for livestock and poultry, the District People's Committee has issued instructions and instructions for livestock farmers to proactively implement measures to prevent hunger, cold and diseases for livestock and poultry.
Specifically, the district has assigned officials to each commune to urge and guide livestock households to apply cold prevention measures for livestock and poultry.
