The beautiful customs of Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) are cherished and preserved by the Vietnamese community in France, including the tradition of visiting temples at the beginning of the year.

Although far from their homeland, for Vietnamese expatriates living in Paris, the traditional Lunar New Year is a time for everyone to express their feelings towards their homeland, country, loved ones, and family.

Overseas Vietnamese also cherish and preserve beautiful customs, including the tradition of visiting temples at the beginning of the year.

Early in the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year (January 31st), hundreds of Buddhists gathered in the grounds of Truc Lam Zen Monastery to prepare for the ceremony presided over by Venerable Thich Phuoc Duong.

The temple is located in Neuchâtel, about 20km south of Paris.

The ceremony was attended by a delegation of officials from the Vietnamese Embassy and representative offices in France, led by Ambassador Duong Chi Dung and Ambassador Duong Van Quang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in France.

Here are some photos of Vietnamese people in France visiting temples to pray for peace and good fortune at the beginning of the new year:
