Faced with that urgent situation, Ky Son district has come up with a plan to overcome this most difficult landslide point by installing 4 precast centrifugal concrete culverts D-1000 with a length of 4 meters/culvert, 1 meter in diameter, placed under the slot for water to flow through, then using machinery to fill the soil above the culvert and raise the height to a safe level so that people and vehicles can pass through this slot.
However, according to the leaders of Ky Son district, this is only a temporary solution. In the long term, the risk of flash floods and extreme weather still exists; to ensure absolute safety for the people, a bridge must be built across Huoi Com stream.
For example, during the heavy rain on the afternoon of July 11, water from upstream poured in large volumes. However, because the sewer was too small and not enough to drain, water poured down the road from Son Ha and Hoa Son villages to Muong Xen town, with the risk of the temporary sewer being washed away.
Mr. Vi Van Truyen - Head of Hoa Son village, Ta Ca commune said: In recent days, Ky Son district has often had heavy rain every afternoon, including a prolonged rain on the afternoon of July 11, water from upstream rushed across the village, making everyone afraid. In particular, there have been many landslides on this road, many people are living in temporary houses.
“I just hope there is a bridge across Huoi Com stream to facilitate traffic and allow water from upstream to drain into the stream, so that people can live in peace before this year's storm season…” - Mr. Vi Van Truyen emphasized.
According to the reporter's records on July 14, although the Muong Xen - Tay Son route has been temporarily repaired, there are still many erosion and peeling spots; there are still many landslides on both sides of the road, weak humus and rocks, posing a potential danger to people. Therefore, upgrading the road and building a bridge over Huoi Com stream is very urgent and needs to be implemented to ensure the safety of people's lives and property in the flood-prone area before the rainy and stormy season comes again.
The Muong Xen - Tay Son route was the most severely eroded point during the historic flood in October 2022. The route is about 12km long. The starting point is at Block 1, Muong Xen town (intersection with National Highway 7), through Son Ha and Hoa Son villages (Ta Ca commune); the end point is at Huoi Giang 3 village, Tay Son commune.
This is the main axis connecting from Muong Xen town to Tay Son commune. In the future, after the Na Ngoi - Tay Son inter-commune road is completed (currently under construction), it will form a continuous connecting axis from Muong Xen town to Ta Ca, Tay Son, Na Ngoi, Nam Can, Muong Ai, Muong Tip communes, serving people's travel, especially developing eco-tourism combined with high-tech agriculture for Ky Son district.
