Poland intercepts a Russian plane

The Polish Defense Ministry announced that two F-16 fighter jets intercepted a Russian small-engine aircraft.

"The Russian training aircraft violated airspace, flying towards Krakow," Polish Defense Ministry spokesman Bartlomiej Mischevich told TVP television channel.

Polish fighter jets intercepted the Russian plane in the restricted area and forced the pilot to land, he added. "The pilot did as requested," Mr Mischevich said.

According to the press secretary of the Polish Ministry of Defense, the incident took place on July 29. After landing at Radom airport, the pilot was detained by the police.

According to Polish media, this is likely a participant in the World Sport Aircraft Championship which will open from August 5 in Radom, Poland.
