Ms. Le Pen begins running for French President
The leader of the far-right National Front (FN) party, Marine Le Pen, opened her campaign for the French presidency by introducing her political platform with "144 commitments" and meeting voters in Lyon on February 5.

Despite some legal troubles, Ms. Le Pen has started the race to the Élysée Palace with many advantages. Most notably, her strong rival, former French Prime Minister François Fillon (right-wing Republicans - LR), is losing a lot of support due to suspicions of falsely recruiting his wife and children.
Ms. Le Pen built her election platform with the goal of eliminating voters' prejudices about a far-right party.
Specifically, according to Le Monde, the FN leader only pledged to "reestablish the national currency", instead of emphasizing "abandoning the euro" like in the 2012 election campaign. Ms. Le Pen also no longer demanded a referendum on reinstating the death penalty.
However, the “traditional” arguments of FN remain the same: economic protection; deportation of illegal foreigners; immigration restrictions…
