Incumbent President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen is confident of winning the European Parliament election and being re-elected for a second term.

According to RIA Novosti on June 10, the current President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, who was elected by the European People's Party (EPP) - the party leading in the European Parliament elections, said that she is confident in being re-elected for a second term.
“The majority of votes we received put us in a position to strengthen Europe. We will start working tomorrow and we will work together with like-minded people,” Ursula von der Leyen said after the preliminary votes were counted on the evening of June 9 (local time).
Responding to a question about her re-election as EC President, Ms. Leyen affirmed: “Yes, I am sure, but I understand that there is still a lot of work ahead.”
Ms Leyen added that she would start her new term in the European Parliament with people who share her goals, including on aid to Ukraine.
The first official preliminary results of the European Parliament elections confirm that Ursula von der Leyen's European People's Party is winning an overwhelming majority, receiving 191 seats out of 720.
More than 360 million eligible voters in the 27 EU member states will cast their ballots from June 6 to June 9. The preliminary vote count will take place at 11:40 p.m. local time. The results will determine the composition of the European Parliament and the leadership of the European Commission (EC). Ursula von der Leyen, the current EC leader, is running for a second term.
