(Baonghean.vn) - During his lifetime, although he was busy with a thousand things, deep in his heart, Uncle Ho still had deep affection for his home province of Nghe An.

During his journey to find a way to save the country until the country became independent, and then until the last years of his life, beloved Uncle Ho only managed to visit his homeland twice. However, until today, in the hearts of the people of Nghe An, there are still intact memories of small stories that shine with the morality of Uncle Ho - a great personality but extremely simple and close.

On June 14, 1957, President Ho Chi Minh visited his homeland for the first time. He was moved and said: "The homeland is full of love and affection/Those fifty years have been filled with so much love." Hearing the news that Uncle Ho was returning to his homeland, not only the people of Sen village, his paternal hometown, Hoang Tru village, but also the people of Nam Dan district in particular and Nghe An province in general were eagerly waiting.

Meeting his fellow countrymen again, Uncle Ho's face was very emotional, he shook hands and waved to them. Still maintaining his deep, warm, resonant Nghe accent, he confided to his people: "People who visit their hometown feel both happy and sad. When I visit my hometown, I only feel happy!", "Because: now our country is independent and free, the people can live a happy life, everyone has food to eat and clothes to wear, and the children can go to school."

Returning to his hometown, he never forgot the small path leading to his old house, the grapefruit tree in front of the house, the jackfruit tree, the areca trees behind, the hammock of his childhood, the small wooden chest, his mother's loom, his father's wooden bed and several books, and the stories his grandmother told him...

In the places he visited, he praised the achievements of his hometown people and reminded his compatriots and cadres to strive to develop agriculture, industry, handicrafts, and other sectors.

Speaking at the conference of cadres of Nghe An province, he noted that the province must be “diligent, thrifty, honest and upright”, compete to increase production and practice thrift; and must unite more closely. He stated clearly: The future of each person, especially a revolutionary, lies in the future of the nation, lies in the future of the class, and cannot be separated. Our task is to strive to consolidate the people's government and strengthen the people's organizations in the localities and pay attention to the people's lives.

He wished Nghe An to change for the better in all aspects, especially politics and economy. He affirmed: “Nghe An province has a revolutionary tradition. So are you determined to make Nghe An a model province? Are you determined? Can you do it? Yes! Very good. Finally, Uncle asked you to return to your locality to convey his greetings to the local Party members, cadres and people.”

Four years later, on December 8, 1961, Uncle Ho returned to his hometown for the second time. This was a visit in which he promised the Party Committee and the people of his hometown during his first visit: If the Party Committee and the people did well in production and Party building, he would return to visit again.

In the afternoon, after working with the Provincial Party Committee, Uncle Ho visited the office's communal dining room. He lifted each cage to see the quantity and quality of each portion. Then the provincial leaders invited him to dinner, and he accepted. The meal he hosted only had a few simple dishes. When everyone was seated at the table, he asked an accompanying officer to bring out a package of rice mixed with red corn. His package of rice was divided equally for everyone to eat happily and deliciously.

Uncle Ho's affection for Nghe An is truly profound. In the past, due to being busy with national affairs, he could not visit his hometown, but he always wrote letters to inquire and encourage his hometown and commune. When provincial leaders and officials from his hometown came to Hanoi for work, if possible, Uncle Ho would meet them and kindly ask about their hometown. The 28 letters, articles, speeches and telegrams that Uncle Ho sent to his hometown Nghe An expressed his affection for his hometown.

In his last letter dated July 21, 1969, sent to the Party Executive Committee of Nghe An province, Uncle Ho advised cadres and party members to encourage people to contribute to Party building, give opinions on selecting people to join the Party, and select leaders, so that the flesh-and-blood relationship between the Party and the people becomes increasingly close. Nghe An needs to strengthen economic recovery and development; take utmost care of people's lives.

At the end of the letter, he wrote: Nghe An is a large province with rich resources, hard-working and revolutionary people. He hopes that the people and comrades of the province will strive to make Nghe An quickly become one of the most prosperous provinces in the North.

Taking note of and implementing his advice, today, Nghe An has achieved many important achievements in socio-economic development. This is also one of the localities that has well organized and effectively implemented the Campaign “Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh”.

These May days in Uncle Ho's homeland are bustling with emulation movements in production, construction, national defense, security, Party building, new rural construction... The Party Committee and people of Nghe An consider these as practical actions to celebrate the 127th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birthday, reporting to Uncle Ho the achievements of cadres, party members and people of the homeland, promising to forever study and follow his example, forever worthy of being his homeland, the place where he wrote a touching poem during his first visit to his homeland after 50 years of separation: "The homeland is full of great love and affection/ Those fifty years are filled with so much love!"
