Bac Ninh busts large gambling den, arrests 29 subjects

At around 2:00 p.m. on March 16, more than 50 police officers and soldiers from the PC44 Investigation Police Agency, in coordination with the Protection and Mobile Police Department of Bac Ninh Provincial Police, raided and caught 29 subjects gambling by shaking dice in Che village, Lien Bao commune, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province.

The task force seized more than 400 million VND from the gambling den along with many gambling items and knives. Immediately after being arrested, the subjects were taken to the mobile police headquarters for classification, investigation and handling.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Khac Huy, Deputy Chief of Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Ninh Province Police, among the 29 subjects participating in gambling, there were 10 women and 19 men, from Bac Ninh, Yen Bai, and Hanoi...

Each gambler must pay 500,000 VND (pool money) when entering the game. Every day, they organize two shifts to serve the gamblers. This is a mobile gambling den that often moves its gambling location.

The authorities are continuing to investigate and classify for handling according to the provisions of law.

Previously, on November 29, 2012, the Criminal Police Department and the Mobile Police Force (Ministry of Public Security) raided Tuan Son Motel on Chua Dan Street (Dinh Bang, Bac Ninh), catching 104 people red-handed organizing gambling and gambling in the form of dice shaking. At the scene, the police seized nearly 6 billion VND and many other exhibits.

The gambling den owners, Duong Minh Duc (aka Duc Vau) and Khuat Thi Huong (aka Huong Thong) along with 19 others were prosecuted for organizing gambling and betting. The investigation agency also clarified the loan sharking at the gambling den of Le Quy Thanh (in Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh province).

Recently, at around 1:00 p.m. on March 14, more than 100 police officers from the Criminal Police Department (C45), Ministry of Public Security, raided a large gambling den located in a brick kiln area, close to the Ca Lo River, arresting 64 subjects on the spot, seizing more than one billion VND, a military gun and many knives and swords...

The gambling den is a temporary shack, about 50 square meters wide, located next to the brick kiln in the middle of a field in the border area of ​​Bon Tu village, Tan Dan commune, Soc Son district and Phuc Thang ward, Phuc Yen town, Vinh Phuc.

Expanding the investigation, the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security arrested four more people, bringing the total number of suspects to 68. Notably, among them was Ms. Luong Thi Trang (73 years old), mother-in-law of Khanh "trang" - a notorious gangster boss in Hanoi in the 1990s.

According to initial determination, the gambling den was headed by Nguyen Van Tu (aka Tu “tro”, born in 1977, in Tan Dan, Soc Son). At the time the police raided the gambling den, Tu was not present at the scene. Searching Tu’s villa in Tan Dan commune, the Criminal Police Department seized an additional 1.3 billion VND, a colt gun, five bullets, and many loan documents.

Searching the house of Le Xuan Huong (born in 1972, also known as Huong “the shaman”), the police seized a safe, many photocopied land books and many documents related to gambling activities. The investigation agency determined that Huong was the one who directly directed all activities of the gambling den, while Tu directed from afar. These two subjects are still on the run.
