Doctor's feedback on 10-day egg diet to lose 10 kg
Some people have lost weight after eating eggs for three meals a day, a total of nine. But doctors warn that such a diet is nutritionally deficient and can easily lead to weight regain.
Millions of people around the world love to eat eggs for breakfast, whether they are omelet, scrambled or boiled. But can you eat eggs with every meal for 10 days?
It is a weight loss diet that is spreading on TikTok, attracting millions of views and many people applying it. Some people boast of losing up to 10kg after a 900 calorie a day diet with dozens of eggs, which are high in protein and are said to be able to quench hunger.
However, nutritionists say that this way of eating has dangerous limitations.
Dr. Duane Mellor, a nutritionist at Aston University (UK), said that eating eggs for 10 consecutive days is not a long-term solution to lose weight. Dr. Frankie Phillips assessed that this diet can lead to deficiencies in essential vitamins and minerals.

According to the Daily Mail, the diet is as follows:
Breakfast: 3 boiled eggs (66 calories each), 1 cup of unsweetened green tea to detoxify the body.
Lunch: 3 eggs, 1 apple (100 calories), green tea.
Dinner: 1 bowl of oatmeal mixed with nonfat milk (200 calories), 1 apple, green tea and 3 boiled eggs.
You can snack on a carrot and an orange.
One TikTok user admitted that following the diet for 10 days made her feel tired. She said it wasn’t the best way to lose weight, but she lost 5.4kg in 10 days. Another claimed to have lost 10kg in just 10 days on the same diet.
Eggs are high in protein, which can reduce hunger levels, says Dr. Phillips. Protein takes longer to digest than carbohydrates, which can curb your appetite. This can help you reduce your calorie intake, which is important for weight loss.
Eating protein-rich foods makes people feel fuller for longer, especially if eaten with fiber-rich foods like whole grains, beans, nuts, vegetables and fruits, says Dr. Mellor.
However, an all-egg breakfast, lunch, and dinner is not recommended. “No nutritionist would recommend such an unbalanced diet, very low in whole grains and fiber, you could get constipated,” Dr. Phillips asserts.
This diet is lacking in many essential nutrients, such as very little fiber, not much calcium and vitamin C. A medium egg has 66 calories and 6.4g of protein. Most adults need up to 45g of protein (women) and 55g (men) per day.
According to doctors, men should eat about 2,500 calories a day. For women, it is 2,000 calories. The all-egg diet has only 900 calories, which is much lower than the recommended amount.
Even for people who want to lose weight, experts only recommend very low-calorie diets for people with obesity-related complications who would benefit from rapid weight loss. They also need the supervision of a health care professional.
According to Dr. Mellor, the all-egg diet is a short-term solution that can lead to weight gain after the 10-day diet ends and does not improve health.
However, eggs are still a good food to include in a balanced diet. Dr. Phillips says eggs are rich in energy, contain vitamin B12 and iron, and are a source of protein and essential amino acids that the body needs.
Dr Mellor suggests eating one to two eggs a day to replace less healthy foods like processed red meat. People should also incorporate other foods like vegetables and salads./.
