Lesson 3: Cultivating Party Member Ideals in the New Situation
In the context of Nam Dan district – the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh – gradually developing its potential and strengths to become a shining example in socio-economic development, while simultaneously building a strong Party and government, nurturing the ideals of young Party members to become the core force inheriting the cause of building the homeland and the country as taught by President Ho Chi Minh is an extremely important task.

Developing Party members from among outstanding Youth Union members.
In 2024, the Youth Union organizations of Nam Dan district introduced 127 outstanding members, of whom 111 were admitted to the Party. Compared to the total of 285 Party members admitted in Nam Dan district in 2024, young Party members within the Youth Union age group accounted for nearly 40%. This shows that the pool of young Party members is increasingly being strengthened and developed strongly in Nam Dan district.
According to Mr. Dang Van Trung, a member of the District Party Committee and Secretary of the Nam Dan District Youth Union, this achievement is due to the implementation of the campaign over the past period."Youth union members strive to become members of the Communist Party of Vietnam."This has been effectively implemented by all levels of the Youth Union. At the same time, the Youth Union has coordinated with Party committees and authorities to focus on nurturing and identifying outstanding members to recommend to the Party for consideration of membership. This has created a pool of young people with sufficient qualities and capabilities to participate in the political system.
Youth union branches at all levels also organize thematic activities on the work of developing Party members, helping to improve the quality of union members after admission. Developing Party members from outstanding union members not only helps to strengthen the core force but also makes a positive contribution to the construction and development of the homeland.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, Secretary of the Youth Union of Xuan Hoa Commune, said: “In 2015, after graduating from the Academy of Finance, I returned to my hometown and participated in the activities of the grassroots Youth Union. Upon returning to my hometown, I received great attention and support from the Party Committee, the government, and the Youth Union of the commune, which allowed me to develop my qualities and abilities, complete all assigned tasks, and thus join the ranks of the Party. In my work with the Youth Union, I always encourage and motivate the young members and those around me to live with a spirit of dedication, constantly improve their knowledge, and contribute together with the Party Committee and the government to effectively carry out political tasks, and together build a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Le Luu Thang – Director of the Da Han Green Agricultural Production and Processing Cooperative in Nam Thanh commune (Nam Dan district), who recently received a Certificate of Commendation from the Standing Committee of the District Youth Union for his outstanding achievements in implementing Directive No. 05 CT/TW dated May 15, 2016 of the Politburo on..."Promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style."He said: "In 2018, when I first left the capital to return to my hometown to start a business, I faced many unfamiliar challenges and difficulties."
However, thanks to participating in youth union activities, from educational and ideological training programs organized by the Youth Union at all levels, to the attention of the Party committee and local government, I have gained more motivation to strive for economic development and support people in applying science and technology to farming to increase yields and income. From there, I had the honor of being admitted to the Party at the local level. With the responsibility of a Party member, I always hope to inspire and contribute to building my homeland for other youth union members.”
Strengthening political and ideological education
On March 24, 2015, Directive No. 42-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership over the education of revolutionary ideals, ethics, and cultural lifestyle for the younger generation in the period 2015-2030 affirmed the need to strengthen traditional education for young people. It clearly defined the responsibilities of Party committees, government agencies, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, and the entire society, while also requiring the creation of a healthy environment for the younger generation to study, train, strive, and grow.

In Nam Dan district, thanks to the involvement of the entire political system, the work of educating the younger generation about revolutionary traditions has truly created momentum, contributing to raising the patriotic and revolutionary spirit of the younger generation, while also helping them to train, mature, and live exemplary lives with ideals.
The implementation of Directive 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style has been carried out by the youth of Nam Dan district through many rich and creative activities such as: Organizing group activities with the theme "Remembering Uncle Ho makes our hearts purer," helping young people understand more deeply the thoughts and morality of Uncle Ho; storytelling competitions about Uncle Ho and competitions to learn about his life and career.
These activities not only help union members and young people cultivate their morals and character but also awaken their love for their homeland and national pride.
According to statistics from the Provincial Youth Union's Organizing Committee, from 2017 to the end of 2023, more than 15,000 Youth Union members in Nghe An province were admitted to the Party. Among them, Nam Dan is one of the localities that has made significant progress in recruiting young Party members. This force has contributed to supplementing the pool of young Party members, increasing resources for the Party, and meeting the requirements of the tasks in the new situation.
In Nam Anh commune, Mr. Tran Van Quyet – Secretary of the Youth Union, and also an individual repeatedly commended as an exemplary figure in "Studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh" in the locality, said: “Each year, the commune's Youth Union, in coordination with the Party Committee and the government, develops and implements 35-50 news articles broadcast on the commune's radio station, reports on district-level radio, and news articles in the district-level internal newsletter to disseminate content related to Party building work. At the same time, the commune's Facebook pages have also been operating effectively with regularly updated news articles and images.”

Currently, the Party Committee of Nam Anh commune has 310 party members, including 37 young party members within the age range of the Youth Union. According to Tran Van Quyet, young party members have been given opportunities to be challenged, trained, and contribute. The implementation...The "Young Party Members Assisting Outstanding Youth Union Members" model has also helped young Party members receive guidance and support in all aspects of their work, ensuring a high-quality pool of new Party members. This model has also been replicated in many communes in President Ho Chi Minh's homeland.
Looking across Nam Dan district as a whole, the young Party members in the district have increasingly affirmed their pivotal role in the local Party committee and government. They not only bring dynamism and creativity but also demonstrate a high sense of responsibility, making important contributions to the socio-economic development of the district.
In particular, movements such as "Nam Dan Youth Joining Hands to Build New Rural Areas" have created a positive effect, arousing the spirit of dedication among young people, contributing to building a stronger and more civilized Nam Dan homeland. With their youthful energy, enthusiasm, and creativity, young Party members in Nam Dan are writing glorious chapters in history, continuing the heroic traditions of their ancestors, and contributing to building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
