Cnew scent for life
After 3 years of implementing the Project "Improving the capacity of officials and public awareness in improving access to support services for women and children affected by gender-based violence", the situation of violence in the two communes of Quynh Thang and Quynh Luong has changed a lot. Specifically, the number of women and children who have suffered at least one act of gender-based violence has decreased from 57.6% to 23%; 97.1% of victims of violence know who to turn to or where to go for help...
At the end of the project, 900 people affected by violence received support, 80% of staff had improved knowledge, 200,000 people had improved attitudes and awareness of gender-based violence. Knots were gradually untied, pain was gradually replaced…

Ms. NTL (Quynh Luong commune) confided: “Thanks to joining the “New Vitality” club, I have had unprecedented experiences. For the first time in my life, I have been able to live as myself, see my strengths, love myself more, and be more confident. The club is a safe and positive environment for people who have suffered violence to heal their wounds, learn and overcome violence together. Every time I come to the sisters, I have more joy and hope.”
Ms. NTL's story is also the feeling of many victims of domestic violence after participating in the project. Above all, they have learned to care for, respect and care for their bodies more, and know how to protect themselves in specific situations.

At the “Responsible Men” club, members are provided with knowledge about the law, understanding of domestic violence, gender stereotypes and practice skills on anger management, non-violent conflict resolution skills, respectful communication methods, etc.
Project participants also use psychotherapy methods to help men recognize their childhood disadvantages in relation to their current violent behavior, while motivating and guiding them on ways to transform negative/prejudiced behaviors into positive ones. Not only do they work hard and love their wives and children, male peer members also stand up to share their stories with other husbands, willing to "play the role" of an abusive husband on stage to promote other husbands.

Identifying economic capacity as one of the important factors to help victims of violence become confident and independent in their lives, 100% of project participants are supported with livelihoods and provided with knowledge to effectively promote support sources, helping families have more income. Based on local proposals, Hagar Organization has also supported many cases of vulnerable, disadvantaged women and children at risk of violence...
To end the pain of domestic violence
On May 18, 2024, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 428/QD-TTg promulgating the Plan for implementing the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence, specifically defining the work content, deadline, completion progress, responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, relevant agencies, organizations, and localities in organizing the implementation of the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence nationwide. Previously, on February 13, 2022, the Prime Minister issued a Decision approving the Program on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence in the new situation until 2025. This shows the State's concern for the current situation of domestic violence.

In addition to implementing the Law, Decrees, policies, prevention and control of domestic violence need to be concerned, thoroughly understood and resolutely implemented in localities. In Nghe An, to enhance the status and role of women, Party committees, authorities and organizations at all levels have had many solutions and appropriate approaches according to their assigned functions and tasks. Specifically, the Department of Culture and Sports has built 59 models of "Prevention and control of domestic violence associated with propaganda and education on ethics and lifestyle in the family"; the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs has built 4 models of "Men pioneering in preventing and responding to gender-based violence", 3 models of "Trusted addresses, temporary shelters in the community", 2 models of "enterprises participating in preventing and responding to gender-based violence"...

The above synchronization and determination have gradually limited domestic violence, bringing gender equality to every village, every community, every home. According to statistics over the past 10 years, the number of domestic violence cases in the province has decreased significantly. In 2023, the rate of people who are victims of domestic violence and gender-based violence who are detected and have access to at least one of the basic support services will reach 100%; the rate of people who commit domestic violence and gender-based violence who are detected and receive counseling at counseling facilities on violence prevention and control will reach 98.5%; the rate of victims receiving support and community reintegration services will reach 100%; the rate of public social assistance facilities implementing activities to support, prevent and respond to gender-based violence in the province will reach 75%...

Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Hien - Vice President of Nghe An Provincial Women's Union shared: "We will continue to maintain and promote the effectiveness of the models and good practices in the past and mobilize the participation and cooperation of the entire system, organizations and individuals. At the same time, we will seek the support of national programs, projects and non-governmental organizations on preventing and combating gender-based violence to bring the best benefits to women and children".
