In the cold season, respiratory diseases are most common, especially in the elderly and children. Below are some remedies to help prevent and treat diseases.

Lemongrass is effective in treating colds.

Thick-leafed perilla (also known as hairy herb):Has the effect of clearing heat, detoxifying, benefiting the lungs, eliminating phlegm, relieving colds, and inducing sweating. Use fresh (5-10 leaves) every day, chew raw with a little salt, pound to get the juice to drink or steep in boiling water, or steam with tangerine peel, ginger, rock sugar, to treat coughs, sore throats, hoarseness, flu, and runny nose.

Children with coughs due to sore throats should take 4-5 small leaves, cut them into small pieces, steam them with a few grains of rock sugar, then give the water to the child to drink little by little, divided into many times a day.

Fern root (also known as hedge bean):Bitter taste, cool properties, warms the lungs, aids digestion, clears blood vessels. Take 10g of bean roots, add 10g of gotu kola, 10g of honeysuckle, then cook together in about 200ml of water, boil down to 1/2, add a little rock sugar to make it easier for children to drink.

Maggot plant (also known as fish beetle plant):To treat colds, coughs, and sore throats, take about 8 - 16g dried leaves (50g fresh leaves), boil water for children to drink every day.

Perilla:Can use perilla leaves or seeds to make tea to treat cough and wheezing in children, 10g per day.

Ginger:Crush fresh ginger (raw ginger) to get the juice to drink, 6-10g per day; 10% ginger wine, drink 2-5ml per day; ginger syrup combined with lemon, lemongrass, each 10g, salt 5g and enough sugar for 100ml, soak for 3 days, filter into a sealed jar, drink to cure cough, 2 times per day, 1-2 tablespoons each time.

Lemongrass:Lemongrass tea is effective in treating colds and coughs by combining young lemongrass leaves, honey, pepper, cinnamon, lemon juice and mint leaves. This mixed lemongrass tea helps clear the nose and throat, making it easier for the patient to breathe, keeping the whole body warm and soothing coughs in the cold season very well.
