The Central Party Secretariat directs to strengthen prevention and control of African swine fever

(Baonghean.vn) - On May 20, the Central Secretariat issued Directive No. 34/CT-TW on strengthening leadership and direction to effectively implement the work of preventing, combating and controlling African swine fever.

Accordingly, the Secretariat requested Party committees, Party organizations, and authorities from the central to local levels to focus on leadership, direction, and mobilization of the combined strength of the entire political system and society to well perform 6 key tasks in preventing, combating, and controlling African swine fever.

The Directive reads: "...consider the task of preventing, combating and controlling African swine fever as a key and urgent task at this time, must focus on leading and directing all levels of government, fronts, unions and social organizations... to urgently, resolutely and synchronously implement the direction and guidance of the Government and relevant ministries and branches on preventing and combating African swine fever; determined to control African swine fever in the fastest time, to ensure conditions for continued rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, improving people's lives...

Heads of Party committees, Party organizations, and authorities at all levels are responsible to higher-level Party committees and authorities for effectively leading and directing the implementation of the Government's instructions and this Directive.

To date, Nghe An has had 28 outbreaks of African swine fever in 11 districts and towns: Quynh Luu, Tan Ky, Nam Dan, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, Quy Hop, Quy Chau, Dien Chau, Hoang Mai town, Nghi Loc and Hung Nguyen. The total number of pigs culled is 587, with a total weight of over 25 tons. The province has spent nearly 3.5 billion VND on epidemic prevention, of which nearly 2 billion VND is for disinfectants, nearly 1.5 billion VND is for protective gear and other equipment.
