Ban Chan Nan: Getting better thanks to the clean water project
(Baonghean.vn) -It can be said that since using a centralized source of domestic water, Chan Nan village, Chi Khe commune has had the conditions to develop cattle and pig farming and other service shops.
Mr. Kha Van Dan - Head of Chan Nan village confided: Previously, Chan Nan people mainly used water from Chan Nan stream and Lam river. In the hot season, the stream dried up and they had to go upstream to Chan Nan, more than 2 km away, to get water. Not to mention, people also had to use water from Lam river, which was polluted and toxic due to gold mining. Due to the unsafe water source, many people suffered from trachoma, intestinal diseases, etc. Since the beginning of 2012, the village has invested in building a centralized water supply project for Chan Nan with a total capital of over 3.5 billion VND. The project has 10 water tanks, the water source is taken from the upstream of Chan Nan stream by plastic pipes about 3 km away. This project provides water for over 40 households.
She also has Chan Nan village that uses centralized domestic water.
Ms. Loc Thi Lan happily said: Since having centralized water for daily use, the people of Chan Nan village no longer have to worry about carrying water from the stream for use. Especially thanks to the water source, the family has been able to raise 4 sows, in 2012 the revenue was over 30 million VND.
Mr. Dan added: Domestic water is not only used for human use but also for livestock development. For example, Mr. Luong Van Xuyen raises over 12 pigs, Mr. Vi Van Quyen raises 14 pigs. Some households draw domestic water by plastic pipes to the farm to raise cows, such as Mr. Vi Van Tuyen's household, thanks to domestic water, they can raise over 20 cows... Currently, the whole Chan Nan village has over 80 sows, over 600 pigs, and over 170 cows. Thanks to clean water, 2 households have opened slaughterhouses, car wash services, shops, and agents along National Highway 7.
It is known that in order to sustainably preserve the centralized water supply system, the village has established a protection regulation, each household pays 5,000 VND per month to hire 2 villagers to protect it. The village strictly prohibits the release of buffaloes and cows at the headwaters of Chan Nan, causing water pollution. If the pipes and water system accessories are damaged, compensation must be paid.
