Steering Committee 138 - Military Region 4 deploys tasks for 2014

(Baonghean.vn) -On February 20, Steering Committee 138 of Military Region 4 held a conference to evaluate the results of the work of preventing and combating crime; HIV/AIDS; drugs and social evils; fighting corruption, smuggling, trade fraud, production and trade of counterfeit goods; practicing thrift and combating waste in 2013 and deploying directions and tasks for 2014. In 2013, Party committees, commanders, and steering committees 138 at all levels thoroughly grasped and seriously implemented directives and resolutions at all levels, focusing on promoting and popularizing legal education. Agencies and units strictly implemented the collection of comments and contributions to supplement and amend the 1992 Constitution and the draft Land Law (amended) as planned, achieving good results. Vietnam Law Day (November 9) was organized seriously and in accordance with regulations.Maintaining the management of soldiers under their authority, cultural, sports and physical training activities are well organized, especially during breaks and holidays, enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the unit. During the year, the criminal investigation agencies of the Military Region have done a good job of receiving, resolving, initiating investigations, proposing prosecution, suspending, temporarily suspending investigations... of violations and crimes (compared to 2012, the number of cases decreased by 7 cases = 19%, the number of violators increased by 11 people).

Implementing the project "Building units and areas free of drug addicts and drug-related crimes" in Regiment 3 (Division 324) and the Military Command of Ha Tinh province, Economic-Defense Group 4 was actively and effectively deployed with many good measures and methods. The Economic-Defense Groups coordinated well with the Border Guard force to propagate and mobilize ethnic minorities not to grow opium poppy and denounce those who grow plants containing narcotics. The Border Guard in the Military Region discovered and destroyed 155 drug cases/277 subjects, confiscating 116 kg of drugs, 133 heroin cakes, 160.4 kg and 39,435 synthetic drug pills, along with many kg of opium and marijuana. Implementing the content of practicing thrift and fighting waste, agencies and units in the entire Military Region have saved nearly 7 billion VND, of which over 500 million VND is saved from the local budget and over 2.6 billion VND is saved from salaries and allowances of officers and soldiers.

The key task in 2014 was determined by the Steering Committee 138 of Military Region: Focus on promoting propaganda and dissemination of legal education. In particular, attach importance to linking propaganda and dissemination of legal education with training, studying, maintaining compliance with regulations, and training in discipline. Implement well the grassroots democracy regulations in conjunction with inspection and examination work, promptly overcome weak links and weaknesses, resolutely limit violations, such as traffic accidents and acts contrary to the traditional nature of the army.

At the conference, the Military Region Command awarded Certificates of Merit to Regiment 1 (Division 324), Engineer Brigade 414 and 2 individuals with outstanding achievements in drug prevention, control and combat, period (2008-2013).
