The Ethnic Minorities Committees of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces met to exchange experiences in implementing ethnic work.
(Baonghean.vn) - On May 3, the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Nghe An province and the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Thanh Hoa province held a meeting to exchange experiences in implementing ethnic work and a discussion to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the tradition of the agency doing ethnic work (May 3, 1946 - May 3, 2024).
Attending the discussion were comrades: Vi Van Son - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Nghe An province; Mai Xuan Binh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Thanh Hoa province. Along with the Deputy Heads of the Committee, leaders of some mountainous districts, and all cadres and civil servants working in ethnic affairs of the two provinces.
On this occasion, the Ethnic Committees of the two provinces reviewed the glorious tradition throughout the 78-year journey with many events and milestones, marking the process of building and maturing of the ethnic affairs agency.
Accordingly, on May 3, 1946, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 58/SL on the establishment of a specialized agency for ethnic minority work.,with the name of the Ethnic Minority Department. Following that event, on November 3, 1946, the 3rd Congress of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee decided to establish the "Ethnic Minority Department" to help the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Administrative Committee direct the mountainous districts and take care of "Organizing, educating ideology and seeking benefits for ethnic minorities".
Over 78 years of construction and development, although the organizational structure has changed continuously, with many different names, they all have the same function and task, which is to advise the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to issue specific policies and guidelines, suitable for each region and each ethnic group; coordinate with functional departments and branches to directly urge and monitor the implementation of ethnic policies, contributing to creating positive changes in all fields.
Although, mountainous and ethnic areas still face many difficulties and challenges; there are many limitations. But with the attention of the Party and the State, in any circumstances, each cadre, civil servant, public employee, and the collective of the Nghe An ethnic affairs agency always strives to complete the task well.
After 78 years of striving and growing, the ethnic affairs agency of Nghe An province has been awarded many noble titles by the Party and the State such as: Third-class Independence Medal; 02 First-class and Second-class Labor Medals awarded by the President; 6 Certificates of Merit and 3 Emulation Flags for outstanding achievements in the emulation movement awarded by the Prime Minister; 2 flags and 1 Certificate of Merit awarded by the Minister - Chairman of the Ethnic Affairs Committee. In addition, the unit has also received many other flags and Certificates of Merit from central ministries, branches, the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Nghe An province.
Like Nghe An, on April 4, 1947, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 41 to establish the Thanh Hoa Highlands Special Administrative Committee, with the main task of helping the Thanh Hoa Provincial Administrative Committee to handle work in the 6 districts of Thanh Hoa Highlands; mobilizing people to prepare for resistance; urging the increase of production and the development of popular education. Over the past 78 years, in each historical period with different names and organizational structures, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Ethnic Committee has always closely followed the political tasks in each period, advising the Party Committee and the government in leading and directing the good implementation of the Party's policies and the State's laws for ethnic and mountainous areas.
At the meeting, delegates exchanged experiences in implementing ethnic work, especially in implementing the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
In the coming time, together with Party committees and authorities at all levels, the Ethnic Minority Committees of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces will focus on strengthening the direction and organization of implementation and regularly monitor, supervise and evaluate the implementation results of the National Target Program for the 2021-2025 period with the spirit of determination, urgency and highest efficiency.
