Discuss solutions to prevent avian influenza
On the morning of March 14, the Provincial Steering Committee for Avian Influenza Prevention held a meeting to discuss a number of measures to prevent the disease. Comrade Nguyen Dinh Chi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee chaired.
Since the beginning of the year, foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) has occurred in 12 communes in 6 districts and cities in the province, and bird flu has occurred in 3 communes in 3 districts: Dien Chau, Nam Dan and Vinh City. Currently, Nghe An is one of 25 provinces and cities with FMD, and one of 6 provinces with bird flu that has not passed 21 days.
After listening to the opinions of the steering committee members, comrade Nguyen Dinh Chi requested: the veterinary sector seriously learns from experience and overcomes the slow epidemic prevention situation in the past. Regarding the tasks in the coming time, comrade Nguyen Dinh Chi emphasized: Currently, it is the transitional season, while the volume of livestock and poultry transported through the province is quite high; people's awareness in disease prevention is not high, which are favorable conditions for various epidemics to break out.
From there, the sectors need to focus on implementing disease management and surveillance, continue to do a good job of propaganda to the people to be proactive in detecting, zoning and controlling; must organize to learn from the failure of concentrated slaughter of livestock and poultry to have more effective methods. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development launched a campaign to spray disinfectants. The province will provide funding to support chemical spraying in key areas. In addition to measures to increase vaccination rates, it is necessary to pay attention to supplementary vaccination and pay special attention to free-range ducks.
