This morning, September 6, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a meeting to evaluate the implementation of the strategy to prevent malnutrition in children under 5 years old, solutions to prevent malnutrition in the period 2011 - 2020; and to give opinions on the project to upgrade and invest in medical equipment for the traditional medicine hospital in the direction of traditional medicine general practice.

(Baonghean) -This morning, September 6, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a meeting to evaluate the implementation of the strategy to prevent malnutrition in children under 5 years old, solutions to prevent malnutrition in the period 2011 - 2020; and to give opinions on the project to upgrade and invest in medical equipment for the traditional medicine hospital in the direction of traditional medicine general practice.

In recent times, localities in the whole province have promoted propaganda and training on nutrition practices, improving the quality of daily meals for children. Organizing programs such as giving soy milk to preschool children in 82 communes of 11 districts. Thanks to that, the rate of people with improved knowledge and proper nutrition practices increased from 12% in 2001 to 67% in 2010. The rate of malnourished children decreased by an average of 1.63% per year; basically solving the situation of vitamin A deficiency, iodine deficiency and nutritional anemia... However, currently the rate of malnourished children in Nghe An is still high compared to the whole country (21.7%).

At the conference, departments and sectors discussed solutions to implement the strategy against malnutrition from now until 2010 to achieve good results, focusing on a number of measures such as: Actively preventing chronic diseases related to nutrition and obesity; Ensuring food hygiene and safety; directing the implementation model of national nutrition quality; Improving the capacity of the nutrition monitoring information system. In addition, it is necessary to widely propagate breastfeeding, reasonable supplementary feeding, food processing at local and family levels, increasing child care time...
