On October 23, the State Steering Committee for Identifying Martyrs' Remains with Missing Information issued a Decision promulgating the Regulations on the Organization and Operation of this Steering Committee.

The State Steering Committee for the Identification of Martyrs' Remains with Missing Information was established under Decision 1227 dated July 26, 2013 of the Prime Minister (referred to as Steering Committee 150). Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan is the Head of the Committee. The Steering Committee is responsible for assisting the Prime Minister in directing the identification of martyrs' remains with missing information.

Steering Committee 150 is responsible for directing and coordinating between ministries, branches and localities in investigating, collecting and providing information on martyrs, martyrs' remains, martyrs' graves, martyrs' cemeteries and martyrs' relatives.

In addition, manage and exploit information to identify remains of martyrs with missing information; identify remains of martyrs with missing information using empirical methods or genetic identification methods.

According to the Regulations on the organization and operation of this steering committee, which were just issued on October 23, the responsibilities of the Head of the Steering Committee, Deputy Heads and members of the Steering Committee are specifically stipulated.

Accordingly, members of the steering committee are responsible for advising and assisting the steering committee in developing a work program and activities to identify the remains of martyrs with missing information; responsible for directing and organizing the implementation of related contents within the functions, tasks and powers of their ministries and branches according to the Prime Minister's regulations. Steering Committee 150 operates under a regime that emphasizes the personal responsibility of the head, through regular and extraordinary meetings chaired by the Head or Deputy Head of the Steering Committee.

According to information from Chinhphu.vn, the Project to identify remains of martyrs with missing information has been approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 150/QD-TTg. By 2015, about 3,000 martyr remains will be identified by empirical methods through searching, gathering, and matching information; about 10,000 martyr remains will be identified by genetic identification method (about 5% of the remains currently have no information).
