Discussing the plan to prepare for Vietnam Book Festival (April 21)

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 18, the provincial Department of Information and Communications held a meeting to unify the content and plan for organizing exhibitions, introductions, and book fairs on the occasion of Vietnam Book Day, April 21. Attending were representatives of relevant departments, agencies, and press agencies in the province.

Vietnam Book Day aims to build and develop the reading movement, towards building a learning society, a beauty in social life. Affirming the role and importance of books; honoring the value of books, building a reading culture in the community and honoring those who participate in the process of collecting, researching, composing, publishing, printing, distributing, preserving and promoting books; enhancing the responsibility of all levels, sectors, functional agencies, social organizations, book writers, participating in publishing, printing and distributing books.

Specifically, activities in response to Vietnam Book Day will be held for 3 days, from April 25 to 27, 2014 at Nghe An Provincial Library. Vietnam Book Day will include the following contents: exhibitions, introducing and promoting books of publishers, printing and distribution units. Authors and units will donate, give away, and sign books for people participating in Book Day. Selling books at preferential prices, displaying good and beautiful books, serving free reading; launching a reading movement in school libraries; organizing a movement to collect books, support books for schools in remote areas, and disadvantaged areas...

At the meeting, representatives of departments, agencies and press agencies contributed opinions on issues of funding, specific activities and responsibilities of relevant units to complete the plan to organize the book day.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Nguyen Ba Hao - Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications emphasized that this is a meaningful activity, requesting that the sectors should be proactive, closely coordinate to develop plans and actively participate. For press agencies, it is necessary to promote propaganda work before, during and after the program to have a profound impact on people's awareness and life.
