Disciplinary Board lenient on violence in round 23 of V.League 2017?
(Baonghean.vn) - This morning (November 1),The VFF Disciplinary Board has issued a disciplinary decision for violations of the Disciplinary Regulations in the 23rd match of the 2017 Toyota National Championship.
Responding to the press, a representative of the VFF Disciplinary Board explained: “Based on the match supervisor's report and the technical video, we found that before receiving the red card, Gramoz was deliberately stepped on by defender Van Hoc (Quang Nam) when he fell. Fortunately, Gramoz managed to pull his hand away. In the above incident, the referee should have given a card to the provocateur, Van Hoc. The Disciplinary Board found that the red card was appropriate and there was no need to increase the penalty. Do Merlo was pushed by defender Thiago (Quang Nam), then Do Merlo retaliated by pushing Thiago with his hand instead of throwing a punch. The collision only stopped at that level, so the disciplinary committee found that the red card was reasonable, appropriate for the violation. |
Specifically: "Warning the Organizing Committee of the match of Than Quang Ninh Football Club due to the situation of spectators lighting flares in the stadium during the match between Than Quang Ninh and Hai Phong Clubs in the 23rd round on October 28, 2017". Thus, the two players Gramoz and Do Merlo of SHB Da Nang did not receive additional punishment for their actions in the match with Quang Nam.
Not only Gramoz and Do Merlo, foreign player Olaha (SLNA) was also acquitted of the elbowing incident of player Nguyen Cuu Huy Hoang (S. Khanh Hoa BVN). The V.League 2017 Organizing Committee sent a report to request the VFF Disciplinary Board to discipline player Olaha, along with a clip of the elbowing incident. However, the Disciplinary Board unexpectedly replied to VPF that Olaha's behavior was unclear and that no penalty would be applied this afternoon.

This is not the first time the Disciplinary Board has issued an unreasonable penalty. They have previously given a "lenient" penalty to Hoang Vu Samson for his kicking of Chau Ngoc Quang (HAGL) in the thigh this season with the conclusion: "After studying the reports and technical videos, the experts concluded that: According to Law 12, Samson's tackle was a reckless situation of fighting for the ball, with no regard for the safety of the opposing player, not an act of violence...".
The phrase “reckless” by the Disciplinary Board caused a stir in domestic football public opinion and under pressure from the press and media, the VFF Disciplinary Board had to correct the mistake by giving Hoang Vu Samson a 2-match ban. A tragicomedy of those who “judge” Vietnamese football.
Although Gramoz and Do Merlo (SHB Da Nang) did not receive any penalty, they are still on the list of players who will be suspended for this round. In addition, Michal Nguyen (Becamex Binh Duong), Doan Ngoc Tan (Hai Phong), Nguyen Quang Tinh (XSKT Can Tho), Pham Duc Huy (Hanoi) and Que Ngoc Hai (SLNA) have received 3 yellow cards.
