(Baonghean.vn) - Those ordinary people, with love, passion and sense of responsibility, day and night seek to preserve and promote the community's culture through musical instruments, folk songs and dances imbued with the identity of the Western Nghe An region.

In the early morning or when the village lights are on, the people of Mon village, Thach Giam town (Tuong Duong) stop to listen.fluteSometimes gentle, sometimes cheerful, it comes from the small house of Mr. Luong Van Huynh. From the sound of Thai musical instruments made of bamboo, people seem to feel the feelings of the "village artisans".

Everyone in Mon village knows that Luong Van Huynh has been passionate about the folk songs of the Thai ethnic group since he was a child. Because of his love for the sounds of the panpipes, flutes, pi, tung tinh, etc., wherever there are people playing traditional musical instruments, he will go there. Since then, Huynh has been researching, learning and improving his playing skills.

Growing up, Huynh really wanted to study at an art school, but due to his family circumstances, he put that dream aside and chose to study pedagogy. However, when music becomes a passion, it is not easy to give up. Therefore, even though he was a student of pedagogy, he still saved money to buy a mandolin and also researched and learned the principles by himself. With his natural talent, in a short time, Huynh was able to master this Western musical instrument.

Each member has different circumstances and jobs, but shares a passion for traditional musical instruments.

Talking about passion for music especiallyfolk musical instruments, Mr. Luong Van Huynh said that he had worked hard to visit many villages to learn. He also mobilized people who were capable of using traditional musical instruments to gather together to exchange and learn from each other. After a short time, there were nearly 10 members participating. Each member had a different situation and job, but they shared a passion for traditional musical instruments and they wanted to preserve traditional cultural values for the future.

Every week, the group gathers 2-3 evenings at the familiar location of Mr. Huynh's house. They practice, collect and play musical instruments together. This season, the nights are freezing cold, but all the members are still present. Some have to travel nearly 20 km, but with their passion for national culture, they have overcome it all.

Mr. Lay Song Thao, a member of the group, living in La village, Luong Minh commune, said: “I am 60 years old this year, not young anymore, my house is far away, but every time the brothers gather, I am there. We gather together to satisfy our passion and let the children look at the example of their uncles and aunts and learn from them.”

"We are willing to teach for free to anyone who loves traditional musical instruments."

When asked about his future plans, Mr. Luong Van Huynh shared: “In parallel with maintaining the traditional musical instrument ensemble, we are planning to invite some women who know how to sing xuoi, xap, lam, nhuon... to join the group to enrich it. We are willing to teach free of charge to those who love traditional musical instruments.”

In addition to collecting, the group also focuses on composing new melodies based on Thai folk songs. Photo: Dinh Tuan

I think, the dedication of Mr. Huynh, Mr. Thao, Mr. Cuong, Mr. Pan... is not enough, relevant levels and sectors need to have more fundamental solutions to preserve folk culture and traditional musical instruments.preserved and promoted. Thereby contributing to enriching Vietnamese music.
