At the 25th SEA Games, Laos became the first host country to implement this policy (at previous SEA Games, the Southeast Asian Sports Federation did not allow host countries to broadcast television rights for free).
However, to come to the above decision, the SEA Games 26 Organizing Committee had to consider for quite a long time because this means losing a large source of revenue. Receiving the good news, many TV stations in Vietnam have been busy planning to broadcast and work at the SEA Games 26.
Deputy Head of Sports, Entertainment and Economic Information Department of Vietnam Television, Mr. Phan Ngoc Tien said: "With the host Indonesia exempting the television copyright, we will do everything possible to broadcast live as many matches of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 26th SEA Games as possible."
