Selling young girls into prostitution, sentenced to 7 years in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - Phuc asked Thuy to find a young girl to come to the restaurant to serve and sell sex, in exchange Thuy received 2 million VND. When the incident was exposed, Phuc became mentally ill and Thuy was sentenced to prison.
On the morning of February 2, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Luong Thi Thuy (born in 1976), residing in Chau Quang commune, Quy Hop district (Nghe An) for the crime of "Buying and selling children".

According to the indictment, Nguyen Quang Phuc (born in 1976) and his wife, residing in Dien Hung commune, Dien Chau, opened a restaurant and grocery store, so they asked Thuy to find some young girls to hire. Phuc made it clear that in addition to serving at the restaurant, they would also serve customers when needed. If they found Phuc, he would pay Thuy 2 million VND for the job.
Through an acquaintance, on April 17, 2016, Thuy went to the house of Mr. Nguyen Van T. (residing in Chau Tien commune, Quy Hop), met Nguyen Thi M. (born in 2001) and invited her to work as a waiter in a restaurant, with a salary of 4 million/month. Although Mr. T. did not agree to let his daughter work, Thuy still took M. to Dien Hung and handed her over to Phuc.
Phuc gave Thuy 5 million VND, of which Thuy's salary was 2 million VND, the rest was M's salary. After 1 day of letting M. serve at the family's pho restaurant, Phuc seduced, threatened, beat and forced M. to sell sex to customers.
The incident was discovered by an employee of another restaurant, who tried to report it to Mr. Nguyen Van T. On May 5, 2016, Mr. T. reported it to the police to rescue his daughter.
M.'s father filed a complaint against Luong Thi Thuy and Nguyen Quang Phuc for their criminal acts to the investigation agency. Luong Thi Thuy and Nguyen Quang Phuc were arrested. However, during the investigation, Nguyen Quang Phuc developed a mental illness and was taken to the hospital on bail by his family. The investigation agency has separated Nguyen Quang Phuc's actions for later handling.
At the time of being forced into prostitution, M. was just over 14 years old. The people who bought sex with M. showed signs of “having sex with children”, however, the investigation agency has not yet identified the specific subject so they are continuing to investigate and handle the case later.
At the trial, Luong Thi Thuy admitted all her crimes. Considering the case as a whole, the panel sentenced Luong Thi Thuy to 7 years in prison for “Trafficking in children”. Regarding civil matters, because both parties had reached an agreement, the court did not consider it.
