US State Department human rights report is not objective
The US State Department report continues to rely on misinformation about the situation in Vietnam.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi
On April 21, in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's reaction to the US State Department's 2012 Annual Human Rights Report, which included an assessment of the human rights situation in Vietnam, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi stated: "First of all, it is necessary to affirm that the Vietnamese State always respects and promotes the basic rights of the people. All people are entitled to exercise their rights within the framework of the law.
Despite acknowledging some of Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights, the US State Department's Report continues to rely on misleading information about the situation in Vietnam and makes unbiased comments on the implementation of human rights in Vietnam.
This is not beneficial to promoting relations between the two countries. Vietnam and the United States have been maintaining a regular dialogue mechanism in the field of human rights. We hope that through frank and constructive dialogues, most recently the dialogue on April 12, the two sides will have an objective and realistic view of the human rights situation in each country, contributing to enhancing understanding and promoting Vietnam-US relations.”/.
