The newspaper also cited informed sources as saying that Mr. Trump will officially announce the location and time of the meeting after meeting with Vice Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Yong Chol in Washington. Mr. Kim Yong Chol, a familiar face in events related to US-North Korea relations, is expected to meet Mr. Trump on January 18.
President Trump visited Da Nang in November 2017 for the APEC Leaders' Summit. At that time, Mr. Trump called Da Nang and Vietnam the "heart" of the Indo-Pacific region. President Trump has repeatedly made public the progress of negotiations on the time and location for his second meeting with leader Kim Jong-un.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency also reported on January 17 that Kim Yong Chol, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, had arrived in Beijing, China, and was expected to fly to Washington, USA, that afternoon. Sources said that during this visit, Kim Yong Chol would likely focus on discussing with US officials issues related to the organization of the second US-North Korea summit.
