Nghe An Newspaper won the 2024 'Silent Contributions' Contest

On the morning of December 3, in Hanoi, the Economic and Urban Newspaper coordinated with ActionAid International in Vietnam (AAV) and the Vietnam Social Security Program and Project Support Fund (AFV) to summarize the communication program and award the 4th "Silent Contributions" Contest in 2024.

The "Silent Contributions" contest is part of the "Silent Contributions" communication program in 2024, aiming to honor the important contributions of individuals and groups in providing care, treatment and the best conditions for female workers, especially female migrant workers who have to rent houses.

Enhance the understanding of stakeholders, including workers (especially female workers), employers, and the community, about the challenges in achieving decent work in the formal and informal sectors in the context of economic development towards digital transformation, with many difficulties and challenges.

2024 is also the first year that the Organizing Committee decided to separate the award system for professional authors (for working journalists and works published on newspapers and radio stations) and non-professionals (all Vietnamese citizens with information products on social security issues posted on forums and social networks).

After more than 8 months of launching, the Organizing Committee of the contest received 651 entries from professional and amateur authors (of which, 514 were professional works and 137 were amateur works).

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi - Editor-in-Chief of Kinh te Do thi Newspaper, Head of the Program Organizing Committee said: This year's entries were evaluated by the Organizing Committee as diverse in all media genres: print newspapers, electronic newspapers, visual newspapers, multimedia newspapers such as: podcasts, short videos, emagazines... exploiting diverse angles and aspects of the picture of labor - employment, social security.

In particular, articles by professional authors are more diverse in topics, especially focusing on reflecting the social security stories of ethnic minority areas in many provinces and cities across the country such as: Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Nghe An, Dak Lak, Hanoi...

For works by non-professional authors, posted on various platforms such as tiktok, facebook, youtube and forums.

In particular, this year's non-professional authors attracted many young writers from universities such as: University of Culture, Diplomatic Academy, Academy of Journalism and Communication...

The Organizing Committee awarded 12 prizes to authors and professional author groups, including: 1 First prize, 1 Second prize, 3 Third prizes, and 7 Encouragement prizes.

In which, Nghe An Newspaper has 1 work that won the Encouragement Prize, which is Emagazine.“The effectiveness of the model 'Household Visiting Diary' of women in Quynh Luu district”by author Chu Thi Khanh Ly.

The first prize of the professional category was awarded to the work "Solutions to attract craft village workers into the social security net through social insurance policies" by author Lan Huong of Dai Doan Ket newspaper.

The Organizing Committee also awarded 7 prizes to non-professional authors and groups of authors, including 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 2 Third Prizes, and 3 Encouragement Prizes. The First Prize for the non-professional category was awarded to the work "Women's hard work for a living at Long Bien market" by author Chu Van Cong.

In addition, the Organizing Committee awarded the prize for the group that actively participated in the contest to the Institute of Journalism and Communication (Academy of Journalism & Communication).
