At the 18th National Press Awards Ceremony - 2023, Nghe An Newspaper was honored to have 3 award-winning works, including 1 B prize and 2 C prizes.

On the evening of June 21, the 18th National Press Awards Ceremony - 2023 was held in Hanoi, on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024).

Attending the award ceremony were Comrade To Lam - Politburo member, President; Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Party Central Committee members: Tran Luu Quang - Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Thi Thanh - Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly; Le Quoc Minh - Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the 18th National Press Awards Council.

Also attending were members of the Party Central Committee, alternate members of the Party Central Committee, representatives of leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and Hanoi City; authors, representatives of groups of authors with award-winning works.

Speaking at the ceremony, President To Lam emphasized that over the past 99 years of establishment and development, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has clearly demonstrated its role as a sharp weapon of the working class, a revolutionary flag, and made important contributions to the struggle for national liberation and reunification in the past as well as in the current cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland.

“Overcoming all difficulties and challenges, not afraid of hardships and sacrifices, ready to rush into the storm, generations of journalists have joined hands and united to build a press that is truly the voice of the Party and the people, a trustworthy bridge between the people and the Party and the State; between the Party, the State, the people and international friends,” said the President.

According to the President, in the process of accompanying the Party's revolutionary cause, the press and the team of journalists have continuously matured and grown, actively propagating, encouraging and motivating the entire Party, people and army to successfully implement the Party's correct guidelines and policies, arousing the burning desire to develop an independent, prosperous, happy and powerful country.

Sending congratulations to the authors who won the 18th National Press Award, President To Lam said that 2025 will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, in the context that the entire Party, people and army are making efforts to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, leading the country to successfully complete the goal under the leadership of the Party, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country, and by the middle of the 21st century, our country will become a developed country with high income following the socialist orientation.

Speaking at the award ceremony, comrade Le Quoc Minh - Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association sent his best wishes to journalists at home and abroad on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, and congratulated the authors and groups of authors awarded the 18th National Press Award - 2023.

The annual National Press Awards is a major event, attracting special attention from the press nationwide. It is the most prestigious award given to outstanding press works that have made positive contributions to the country's press career, honoring authors and groups of authors with the best works every year.

This is also an opportunity to encourage and motivate the team of journalists to constantly strive to build a revolutionary press in Vietnam. Every hour, every day, quality journalistic works are still being written by a generation of journalists who love their job and are full of courage.

This year, the number of works submitted to the Award was 1,905, of which 1,827 works met the requirements. The Preliminary Judging process was carried out seriously, strictly, in accordance with the Guidelines and Regulations of the Award Council. The 11 Subcommittees of the Preliminary Judging Council worked impartially, completed the Preliminary Judging on time, and achieved good quality.

The Final Round judging process was carried out in accordance with the Award Charter and the working regulations and voting procedures of the Award Council. Of the 165 works entered in the Final Round, the Council discussed, evaluated and voted to select 10 A prizes, 26 B prizes, 45 C prizes and 41 Encouragement prizes to award the 18th National Press Awards.

According to the jury, the works participating in this year's Award are of good quality. Most of the works are closely related to reality, highly topical, and address hot spots in 2023 in the fields of politics, economics, society, national security and defense, Party building, etc. Many works are carefully invested, with content that discovers new issues, criticizes major policies and guidelines of the Party and State; proposes many creative solutions and good practices that have a widespread and influential influence on society.

The highlight of this year is the elaborate and attractive multimedia press products. Many press agencies have innovated, approached modern journalism technology, developed multi-platform, multimedia journalism and creative forms of journalism to increase attractiveness and public accessibility.

In addition to central press agencies, some local newspapers and radio stations have also changed the way they choose topics and themes and implement them in new and modern ways, which are highly appreciated for both quality and presentation. It can be seen that through each season, the quality of the entries has become better and better, the gap between central and local press has increasingly narrowed.
