First of all, Nghe An Newspaper would like to thank Priest Nguyen Van Thanh for his interest in and follow-up of the information posted on Nghe An Newspaper's publications, and for his feedback.
Regarding the contents mentioned in the "Complaint", we would like to discuss as follows:
First, the petition stated: “At 2:32 a.m. on September 9, 2013, Nghe An Online Newspaper (baonghean.vn), the organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Nghe An province, the voice of the Party and authorities of Nghe An, published the article “Another trick of “Putting fire in someone else’s hand” with content that is untrue, slanderous and insulting to citizens.”

Second, the petition stated: “We would like to refrain from mentioning the untrue content related to the incident at My Yen parish, which is being unanimously condemned by public opinion because the truth is distorted and the tyranny is brutally treating citizens. We only mention one incident related to the Priest and Parishioners of Cam Truong parish.”
In this content, the Complaint has baselessly slandered and distorted Nghe An Newspaper.
Third, in the Petition, Priest Nguyen Van Thanh wrote: “Your newspaper's group of reporters affirmed: “Priest Nguyen Van Thanh arbitrarily gathered people, then enthusiastically promoted the Dong Quat Market to take place in Cam Truong Parish (Quynh Yen Commune, Quynh Luu)…”.
We affirm that there is absolutely no such incident. Nghe An Newspaper, on behalf of the Party and the Nghe An government, has completely fabricated and slandered.
Regarding this issue, the sentence “Priest Nguyen Van Thanh arbitrarily gathered people, then eagerly promoted the construction of Dong Quat Market in Cam Truong Parish”, we are referring to the act of “eagerly promoting the construction of the market” in Dong Quat Parish. We would like to add that we have also mentioned this issue in the article “Stories in Cam Truong Parish” in Nghe Electronic Newspaper posted at 0:12' September 10, 2013.
Fourth, the Petition requests that “The authorities and the Communist Party of Vietnam of Nghe An province, the governing body of Nghe An Newspaper, must respect the truth when speaking and behaving with people, and promptly correct the content we mentioned above in accordance with the procedures of the Press Correction Regulations”.
Regarding this issue, Nghe An Newspaper once again affirms, according to Point 1, Article 9 of the revised and supplemented Press Law: “When the press reports false information, distorts, slanders, or insults the reputation of an organization, the honor and dignity of an individual, it must publish or broadcast a correction or apology from the press agency or the author…”. Here, the information published on Nghe An Newspaper is completely true, so Nghe An Newspaper has no obligation to correct the information it has published.
Nghe An Newspaper sincerely thanks An Ton Nguyen Van Thanh, Priest of Cam Truong Parish (Quynh Yen Commune, Quynh Luu District) for following the information posted on Nghe An Newspaper and providing information and exchanging with the Newspaper.
