The Japanese newspaper said that China disregards international maritime law, which clearly states rights and regulations related to maritime issues; this further increases regional tension, going against the policy of peacefully resolving sovereignty issues.

China has just announced the establishment of the so-called "Sansha City" in Hainan to manage three island chains in the East Sea. Illustrative photo.

Economic Daily websiteSankei Shimbunquoted Mr. Rommel C. Banlaoi - Director of the Philippine Center for Terrorism, Violence and Peace Research (PIPVTR): "With the policy of claiming sovereignty over the East Sea, the establishment of Sansha city is one of Beijing's strategies to increase its power to control the situation".

The sovereignty dispute in the East Sea has not found a solution for many reasons. Professor Emeritus Paul Dibb of the National UniversityAustraliacommented: "The main problem is that China does not recognize international maritime law."

In addition, Mr. Dibb noted that in the relationship between China and related countries, Beijing has never signed an agreement to prevent incidents in the air and at sea like the Soviet Union signed in 1972 and China has not shown any interest in this issue.
