Vietnam Press Museum receives artifacts of Journalist and Martyr Dang Loan
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 3, in Nghe An, the Vietnam Press Museum held a ceremony to receive donated artifacts from Journalist and Martyr Dang Loan - former Editor-in-Chief of the Western Nghe An Newspaper.
Attending the ceremony were comrades Tran Thi Kim Hoa - Director of Vietnam Press Museum; Tran Duy Ngoan - Chairman of Nghe An Journalists Association, along with representatives of Nghe An Museum, representatives of press agencies and daughters of martyred journalists.
The artifacts donated to the Press Museum include the working tools of Martyr Journalist Dang Loan during the resistance years: a bicycle, a briefcase containing working documents, glasses and bicycle repair pliers that the journalist used to use.

Journalist Dang Loan, born in 1917 in Lien Giap hamlet, Thanh Binh commune (now Phong Thinh commune), Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province. He was a pre-uprising cadre who was once the Secretary of the National Salvation Youth of Cat Van commune; a propaganda cadre to seize power in Thanh Chuong district, later a propaganda cadre of Thanh Chuong district, Head of the Propaganda Department of Con Cuong district. He was later promoted to Head of the Propaganda Department and Editor-in-Chief of the Western Region newspaper, under the Western Region C Nghe An Department.
Journalist Dang Loan was a man passionate about his work. During the fierce days of war, he steadfastly stuck to the base, worked with reporters to gather information, edit, and publish newspapers in a complete and timely manner, serving the propaganda mission for the army and people of Western Nghe An.
On March 24, 1965, he and journalist Tran Van Thong were on duty at the agency when they were bombed by American planes. He led the agency's self-defense force to fight back fiercely and heroically sacrificed himself.
He was posthumously awarded the title of Martyr and the Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism by the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Over the years, his descendants have kept the relics from the journalistic career of martyr Dang Loan, and now donate them to the Vietnam Press Museum.
The Western Newspaper serves readers and ethnic minority people in 10 Western Nghe An districts and 14 farms and 13 forestry farms in Western Nghe An. The Western Newspaper was published in 1963, issued twice a week, and merged into Nghe An Newspaper in 1967.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Tran Thi Kim Hoa - Director of the Vietnam Press Museum expressed her emotions and gratitude to the relatives of Martyr Journalist Dang Loan as well as agencies and individuals in Nghe An who have contributed to helping the Museum preserve and promote the tradition of the Vietnam Press.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Press Museum had a meeting with the leaders of the Nghe An Journalists Association, Nghe An Newspaper and Nghe An Radio and Television Station to connect and build a booth displaying artifacts about the formation and development process of Nghe An press at the local press booth in the Vietnam Press Museum.
