Vietnam Museum of History displays precious antiques.

The National Museum of History opened the special exhibition "Vietnamese Antiquities" and inaugurated the gallery on Oc Eo-Phu Nam culture in Hanoi on July 25.

The "Vietnamese Antiquities" special topic is organized by the National Museum of History in collaboration with the Thang Long-Hanoi Antiquities Association, aiming to promote the development of the socialization movement of cultural heritage conservation activities.

This time, the two sides jointly displayed more than 50 typical and unique Vietnamese antiques carefully selected from the collections of members and the Museum.

The exhibits date from the Dong Son culture (2,500 years ago) to the Nguyen Dynasty (19th century), including many types such as bronze drums, teapots, bells, jars, candlesticks, vases, trays, bowls, ladles, jars... made from many materials such as bronze and ceramic.

In particular, there is a collection of gold jewelry from the Nguyen Dynasty, including crystal-inlaid gold bracelets; phoenix-shaped gold hairpins; gold and silver hairpins... This jewelry is very delicately crafted, demonstrating the talent of Vietnamese craftsmen of that period.

The gold jewelry artifacts were collected 5 years ago and this is the first time they are displayed and introduced to the public in the capital.

The valuable artifacts displayed in the "Vietnamese Antiquities" exhibition contribute to introducing to the domestic public and international friends the quintessence, historical values ​​as well as unique culture of Vietnam.

The exhibition "Vietnamese Antiquities" will end on August 25.

Oc Eo-Phu Nam Exhibition Hall was built on the basis of the project to renovate and upgrade the Oc Eo-Phu Nam cultural exhibition hall approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and implemented since 2010.

The process of renovation, repair, upgrading of interior, architecture... in conjunction with other exhibition sections in the museum, the Oc Eo-Phu Nam exhibition room has become a luxurious and modern exhibition room, ensuring consistency in the overall permanent exhibition of the National History Museum.

The exhibition is a collaboration between the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Museum and the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History.

Oc Eo-Phu Nam Gallery displays more than 100 precious artifacts of the Oc Eo culture, an ancient culture formed and developed on the basis of the indigenous layer in the first 10 centuries BC, about 2000 years ago in the Mekong Delta region.

The exhibits include many materials such as ceramics, precious metals, wood, stone and some bronze.

Terracotta building materials and architectural decorative reliefs found are the main relics in the temple architecture of the Oc Eo culture.

Precious artifacts such as gold, agate, quartz, glass... are crafted into bracelets, rings, earrings, necklaces, and beads of many different sizes, colors, and designs.

Notable are the embossed gold leaves with human faces, carved decorative patterns and ancient Sanskrit characters... The artifacts on display were found in many relics scattered throughout the Southern region.

Through the Oc Eo-Phu Nam exhibition, the Organizing Committee hopes that domestic and international audiences will be able to visualize the basic characteristics of Oc Eo culture around the first 10 centuries BC, and understand more about Vietnamese history through the labor and craftsmanship of ancient people shown on the artifacts. Thereby, helping the public to appreciate more and have better awareness in preserving and promoting the value of national cultural heritage.../.
