(Baonghean) - Nghe An Museum has just coordinated with the Vietnamese Bronze Drum Company Limited to successfully restore the Quyet Mountain bronze drum. The drum was discovered on the Lam River bank flowing through Quyet Mountain, Vinh City in 1979.

When discovered, only the drum's face remained. After restoration, the drum was returned to its original form in terms of size, material, color and decorative patterns. The drum belongs to type I according to the classification of Austrian scholar Heger, and is a typical relic of the brilliant Dong Son culture, more than 2,500 years ago, of which Nghe An was one of the three centers of this culture. According to the plan, Nghe An Museum will continue to restore other drum faces such as the Quyet 2 mountain drum face, Dong Hieu drum face,... to gradually complete the collection of bronze drums currently in storage.

The restoration of the Quyet Mountain bronze drum is of great significance as Nghe An Museum is preparing to open its doors to visitors, introducing to the public the history and people of Nghe An through many rare and unique artifacts and collections.
