At the 2nd meeting of the Steering Committee, the Organizing Committee of the National Tourism Year 2014 held on August 10 in Da Lat, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, Head of the Steering Committee, requested localities in the Central Highlands region, with the participation and support of units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to take advantage of the National Tourism Year to strengthen the collection and inventory of relics, tangible and intangible cultural heritages, especially costumes, epics and traditional arts, of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands.

Up to now, the Organizing Committee of the National Tourism Year 2014 has finalized 44 official events and activities, including events organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and events organized by the 5 provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Kon Tum. Some typical events are: Brocade art festival and Central Highlands costume performance; Folk cultural performances of ethnic groups; Solo and ensemble festival of traditional musical instruments; Vietnam Film Week and National Photo Exhibition in Da Lat, Cultural - Sports and Tourism Festival of Central Highlands ethnic groups, 2nd International Gong Festival, Central Highlands Wooden Sculpture Festival, Central Highlands Culture - Tourism Exhibition Fair, etc.

Along with festival programs and cultural events, within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2014, there will be many professional sports activities and sports specific to the Central Highlands such as: Tien Phong Newspaper Cross Country Race, National First Class Chess Championship, National eSports Tournament, Cheerleading Sports Festival, Golf Tournament to celebrate 120 years of Da Lat, Krong Ana Boat Race, Buon Don Elephant Racing Festival...

The Central Highlands provinces also design many special tours to serve tourists such as the tours: Green Forest, Love Paradise, Da Lat without the city (in Da Lat); homestay tours: Come to Ban Don elephants, picnic at the wild and majestic Lak Lake (Dak Lak); explore the M'Nong plateau, explore the majestic waterfalls (Dak Nong); A glimpse of Pleiku tour, cruise on the rivers and waters of Ayun Ha Lake, travel back to the source to visit the Tay Son Thuong Dao relic and the hometown of Hero Nup (Gia Lai); Return to the great green pine forest of Kon Plong and the cultural tour of the common national landmark of the three countries Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia (Kon Tum) ... along with many outdoor tours, learning about the life and culture of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands.

The 2014 National Tourism Year of the Central Highlands - Da Lat with the theme "The Great Central Highlands" will be opened at the end of December 2013 and take place throughout 2014 in the main location of Da Lat city (Lam Dong), along with many activities held in localities in the Central Highlands region./.
