In 2025, the country is stepping into a new era and continuing the glorious history of the Ho Chi Minh era, the era of building a prosperous country, a prosperous and happy people. The entire Party, the entire army and the entire people demonstrate their aspirations, will and political determination through the revolution of streamlining the organizational apparatus, ending the operation of district-level administrative units, forming and operating a 2-level local government. Sharing that revolutionary spirit, and in the pride of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press over a century of formation and development, the career of Nghe An Press also marked a memorable milestone. The two main press agencies of the province, Nghe An Newspaper and Nghe An Radio and Television, merged into Nghe An Newspaper and Radio and Television, and officially came into operation with 130 communes and wards across Nghe An province from July 1, 2025.

Nghe An Newspaper and Radio and Television is a major press agency of a large province, the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, the mouthpiece of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, the voice of the government and people of Nghe An. Before merging according to the general policy, Nghe An Newspaper and Nghe An Radio and Television were two strong brands in the system of local press agencies nationwide.

Nghe An Newspaper was established in 1961, after 64 years of development, initially operating only in the form of print newspaper, along with the strong development of the internet and new forms of media, generations of Editorial Board, reporters of Nghe An Newspaper have constantly made efforts, approached new methods of journalism, built and developed Nghe An Electronic Newspaper to meet the requirements of innovation in methods and forms of information access of the public readers. For many years, Nghe An Newspaper has always been leading the local Party newspaper system in terms of content quality, publications and number of readers.

Nghe An Radio and Television Station is the official and main radio and television agency of Nghe An province. After nearly 70 years of construction and development, with the tireless efforts of the leadership team, cadres, civil servants and workers through the periods, the Station has always been in the Top of the local radio and television system, with a position and brand on the map of the radio and television industry of the whole country. The quality of content, form of expression and coverage of NTV and NOV are constantly improved. Not stopping at the two traditional types of press, radio and television, keeping up with the development trend of modern journalism, while building and training a professional team, Nghe An Radio and Television Station has continued to develop in the direction of a multi-form, multimedia media agency.

With the rapid development of communication technology, adaptation to the digital age and especially digital transformation, Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television not only affirms its position and dominates the information and propaganda front in traditional press forms of Nghe An, but also continues to develop digital channels, digital content and soon creates its mark and achievements in this new form of media.

The merger of the two agencies of Nghe An Newspaper and Radio - Television is a correct policy and in line with the practical requirements of the revolution to streamline the organizational apparatus, and at the same time is an opportunity to reform and innovate local press activities. By merging into one, Nghe An Newspaper and Radio - Television will unify their will, gather resources, create a combined strength, flexibly and effectively exploit all types of journalism, better serve the task of directing and operating socio-economic development, maintaining national defense - security of the province, as well as spreading the cultural values ​​and people of Nghe An to the whole country and the world.

The staff, civil servants and workers of Nghe An Newspaper and Radio and Television are even more proud when the milestone of the confluence of the two units coincides with an important historical event of the country: the end of the district-level administrative unit's activities, the formation of 3,321 new commune-level administrative units and the official merger and rearrangement of 63 provinces and cities of Vietnam into 34 provinces and cities.

Nowadays, facing the myriad of difficulties and challenges of the new media era, with increasingly high requirements and tasks, greater responsibilities are placed on the shoulders of the management team and all cadres, reporters, technicians, and employees of Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television.

Speaking at the Ceremony to announce the decision to merge Nghe An Newspaper and Nghe An Radio and Television, and to appoint a new Editorial Board of Nghe An Newspaper and Radio and Television, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Hoang Nghia Hieu emphasized: Merging the two Newspaper and Television agencies together is not a mechanical arrangement, but to be more refined and stronger. Selecting the strengths of each side to exploit and develop a multi-format, multi-media press agency leading the system of local press agencies nationwide as Nghe An Newspaper and Nghe An Radio and Television did when they were still independent.

From July 1, 2025, Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television is a local press agency with the function and task of managing the activities of 4 types of press: Print Newspaper, Electronic Newspaper, Radio, Television and digital content channels. The total number of staff, civil servants and workers is 260 people. With the development trend of modern journalism, the types of press have an intersection in exploiting and using means of expressing content and forms of expression. Whether it is traditional press or some newly emerged types of press, it requires the application of technology, maximizing the strength of multimedia. Therefore, when operating a press agency with all 4 types of traditional and orthodox press and the support of digital content, digital channels, Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television will operate more flexibly, creatively and effectively. Not only does it improve the quality of content and presentation, it also saves on investment costs in technology, equipment, human resources, and additional costs for news production. And this is also the development trend of press agencies today.

However, entering a new phase, Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television also face challenges and difficulties. That is the fierce competition of social networks and new media. Revenue from advertising services has seriously decreased. Human resources have not been supplemented, there is a lack of policies and mechanisms to attract and encourage good reporters and engineers, especially in areas that require expertise such as graphics, information technology, etc.

Therefore, it requires each member of the common house of Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television to make more efforts, to have determination and new ways of doing things. Each cadre and reporter must equip themselves with knowledge, skills and know how to renew themselves so as not to become old, to not fall behind and to keep up with the development trend of modern journalism. The Editorial Board and staff need to have strategies, plans and decisions in building and developing a multimedia press agency, fully converging and connecting the strengths of many types of journalism. Building an optimal operating mechanism of a multi-platform media complex, taking content quality as the core, applying technology as the foundation and human resources as the center. In the immediate future, focus on advising the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to regulate the functions, tasks, working relationships, and financial autonomy mechanisms of Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television; reorganizing the apparatus and human resources between specialized departments; Preparing to hold the 1st Party Congress for the 2025 - 2030 term: building operating regulations and operating mechanisms for a converged newsroom in a synchronous, smooth, effective and economical manner in terms of both human resources and costs, ensuring that the information and propaganda work of the province's political tasks is not interrupted or duplicated.

Generations of cadres, leaders, reporters, civil servants and workers of both agencies over many periods have always been united, overcome difficulties, passionate, creative, dedicated to responsibility, devoted themselves and built a proud tradition of journalists in Uncle Ho's homeland. Today, that spirit must be promoted even more, turning the previous individual pride of each agency into common pride.
