Within the framework of the exhibition "New Archaeological Discoveries in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel from 2010 to the present," one of the most noteworthy treasures is the wooden seal of the Tran Dynasty, carved in the 7th year of Nguyen Phong (1257) during the reign of King Tran Thai Tong, which was used by the court for circulating state documents.
In addition, the "Cẩn tam khí" sword from the Trần Dynasty, 13th-14th century, was also discovered in the central area of Thăng Long Imperial Citadel. This sword has engraved patterns that are all gilded with gold or silver. The sword band is made of bronze, and the hilt still shows traces of wood.
In addition, a set of three imperial guard hats from the Ly Dynasty, dating back to the 11th-12th centuries, were discovered for the first time. This is also the first time such a valuable artifact has been found.
Also on display within the exhibition are other rare artifacts such as stone dragon-shaped balustrades from the Ly Dynasty (11th-12th centuries), wooden panels decorated with three dragon motifs from the Tran Dynasty (13th-14th centuries), and wooden Bodhi leaf decorations in the shape of dragon heads from the Ly Dynasty (11th-12th centuries).
The exhibition also features more than 150 newly discovered archaeological artifacts found at several other locations within the Thang Long Imperial Citadel – Hanoi from 2010 to the present, such as trough-shaped roof tiles from the Tran Dynasty (13th-14th centuries), square bricks from the 14th century, cat statues, white glazed ceramics from the Ly Dynasty (12th century), and dragon head statues decorating roof corners from the Le Dynasty (15th-17th centuries)…
With the rare artifacts on display at the exhibition, these are extremely important excavation results that contribute to a deeper understanding of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage site, especially the archaeological values beneath the ground.
The artifacts selected for this exhibition are exceptionally representative and unique. They serve as evidence of the symbolic power of the Royal Family in particular and of Dai Viet in general throughout the dynasties in the course of Dai Viet's history.
