Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho Monument is a special cultural project, a valuable work of thought and art, expressing the love of the people of Nghe An province and the people of the whole country for the leader Ho Chi Minh. The project started construction on May 19, 2000 on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of his birth and was inaugurated on May 18, 2003. This place has become a cultural activity place for the people of Nghe An, a destination for tourists from all over the world when making a pilgrimage to Uncle Ho's hometown.

Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho Monument are the places where the sky of Vinh city converges, creating harmony with the space and architecture of the city. The 12m high Uncle Ho Monument made of Binh Dinh granite, built according to the model of sculptor Do Nhu Can, has left a deep impression and was selected from many competing designs. The image of Uncle Ho is majestic yet simple, still leisurely and carefree, wearing familiar rubber sandals like the day he visited his hometown. The entire monument leans against Chung mountain range (modeled after Chung mountain in Nam Dan district), a place that has been associated with Uncle Ho since his childhood. The people who carried out the project took soil from Nam Dan to build a mountain on an area of 4 hectares. The mountain is shaped like the letter "Vuong". The highest peak is 11m, the lowest peak is 9m and there is a convenient road up the mountain for sightseeing. In front of the mountain are planted trees to create a backdrop for Uncle Ho's Monument, on both sides are planted typical trees of 61 provinces and cities across the country as gifts. Behind Chung mountain, there is a primeval forest serving recreational activities and relaxation for local people and visitors.

Mr. Truong Hai Linh - Party Cell Secretary, Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho Monument, said: The Management Board of Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho Monument was established by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision 1288/QD-UBND.TC dated April 10, 2003 with the main functions and tasks: organizing the protection, preservation and promotion of the value of Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho Monument. This place welcomes nearly 4 million visitors every year for sightseeing, entertainment and recreation; organizes flower offerings, reports and memorials to President Ho Chi Minh for over 250 delegations; including many delegations from countries: Laos, Thailand, China, Australia, Cambodia, the US, Korea...
Recognizing the importance of the project with national political and cultural significance, the Board of Directors and all cadres, civil servants and employees of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho Monument have made every effort, day and night, to protect, preserve and promote the value of the project. Since the inauguration of the project, the Square has organized and done a good job of offering flowers in memory of Uncle Ho Monument and planting souvenir trees for the delegations of Party and State leaders through the periods, ministries, central branches, leaders of Nghe An province and international delegations, compatriots at home and abroad, tourists from other countries visiting, researching and studying. Doing a good job of propaganda, decoration and visual encouragement. Coordinating with units to organize large and small cultural, sports and tourism activities on holidays and major political events of the country and the province, serving the people and visitors. Exceeding the assigned annual professional plan targets. Performing well the work of ensuring absolute safety of the target, security and order. Performing well the work of regular maintenance and repair of items, environmental sanitation, care of trees, ornamental plants, flower beds, and lawns to ensure the aesthetics and landscape of the project is always green, clean, and beautiful.
With the achievements, the Square Management Board has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; for many years, the Provincial People's Committee has awarded the title of Excellent Labor Collective, a Certificate of Merit in organizing events and many Certificates of Merit from the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Director of the Provincial Police in performing political tasks and achievements in implementing the movement of the whole people to protect national security, fire prevention and fighting. To achieve these achievements, in addition to the attention and direction of the Party, the State, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee directly the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, there are also the unceasing efforts of the Board of Directors and all cadres, civil servants and employees in the management board. Improve the quality of reception of guests offering flowers, reporting achievements, commemorating, visiting, researching and studying; diversify types of cultural and artistic activities to serve visitors and people. Research and organize a variety of types of cultural services and souvenir products. Train and foster to improve professional qualifications, professional skills, and professionalism in serving cadres, civil servants and workers.
