Reporter: Could you tell us about the outstanding results achieved in the 2011 mission of the provincial border guard force?
Colonel Dinh Ngoc Van: Over the past year, the provincial Border Guard force has regularly paid attention to innovating working measures to improve the effectiveness of border work, successfully organizing the implementation of the task of firmly managing and protecting the sovereignty and security of the border and sea areas of the Fatherland, fighting against crimes, searching and rescuing, building a strong people's border defense and building a strong and disciplined unit. The grassroots units have coordinated with local forces and sectors to organize hundreds of border and sea patrols and controls, detecting and handling hundreds of subjects violating border regulations... Implementing on schedule the project of embellishing and increasing the density of national border markers on the Vietnam - Laos border; improving the effectiveness of immigration and exit work to ensure strict security, creating favorable conditions to contribute to the good implementation of the integration and development policy of the province. Establishing and successfully fighting 6 special projects and many professional plans, arresting and handling many subjects, seizing a large amount of evidence.
Closely coordinate with departments, branches, organizations, local Party committees and authorities to propagate and mobilize the people on the two border lines to well implement the Party's policies, the State's laws as well as local policies. Actively participate in building and consolidating political bases, developing economy, culture and society in border and coastal areas, contributing to building a strong national border defense. Continue to effectively and on schedule implement Plan 316 on "Conservation and sustainable development of the Dan Lai ethnic minority in the core zone of Pu Mat National Park, Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district" with good results, highly appreciated by local leaders and people.

With the achievements in the past year, the provincial Border Guard force was awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag by the Ministry of National Defense and the Provincial People's Committee; 1 collective was awarded the Second Class Military Exploit Medal by the President, 1 collective and 1 individual were awarded the Third Class Military Exploit Medal and many collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister, the Provincial People's Committee, the Border Guard Command, ministries and branches.
PV: What are the main directions and goals of border work in the coming time, comrade?
Colonel Dinh Ngoc Van: In 2012, the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee - Command thoroughly grasped the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State, the Party Committees and authorities at all levels and of the higher levels on the tasks of national defense and security and border work; focused on leading and directing to grasp the situation at home, abroad, and at sea; effectively preventing, combating, and fighting all plots and tricks of the enemy and all types of subjects, protecting the integrity of territorial sovereignty, maintaining security and order and social order and safety on the border and at sea, not allowing hot spots to occur in the border areas; actively participating in socio-economic development, consolidating national defense and security in the border areas, contributing to building a people's border defense associated with a solid people's security and national defense posture. Striving in 2012, Nghe An Border Guard was awarded the Emulation Flag of the Prime Minister, creating a premise for the provincial Border Guard force to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in the period of renovation.

Closely coordinate with local Party committees, authorities, and forces in managing and protecting borders and sea areas, promptly detect and prevent activities violating sovereignty and territory.
Implement well the coordination regulations with the forces in the province and the coordination program with the Police and Military Commands of Xieng Khouang, Bolikhamxay and Hua Phan provinces of Laos in fighting against all types of crimes related to the two sides of the border and managing and protecting the border.
Continue to promote participation in building and consolidating the grassroots political system, socio-economic development programs in border and coastal areas, replicate models of building points and models to help people develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty. Link building a mass movement to participate in protecting border sovereignty and security with the fight against crime and social evils, building a strong people's border defense.
Carry out border diplomacy well and effectively implement cooperation programs to build special friendship relations with provinces sharing the border. Continue to effectively implement the project to renovate and increase the density of border markers on the Vietnam - Laos border as planned.
