Barca vs Man City, Chelsea vs PSG in Champions League Round of 16

Matches in the 1/8 round of Champions League

Arsene Wenger will have a delicious lunch when he hears that his team will face Monaco in the Champions League round of 16. Perhaps the French strategist's prayer has come true. Over the past four years, the Gunners have never been lucky in the draw for this round, having faced Barca, AC Milan, Bayern and then Bayern again. But this year is different, Wenger's team will face Monaco, who are currently sixth in Ligue 1. The French runners-up are no longer strong after selling many stars last summer.

Unlike Wenger, Manuel Pellegrini and his players will not find it easy. Man City face Barca. This is a repeat of last season. Barca won 2-0 away and then 2-1 at home against the reigning English champions in the round of 16.

Another notable tie is PSG vs Chelsea. After the group stage, manager Jose Mourinho said that PSG was his favourite team to face and the Portuguese tactician finally got his wish. Last season, the two teams also met in the quarter-finals. The Blues lost 1-3 in the first leg but eventually reached the semi-finals with a 2-0 home win.

Another intriguing clash is Juventus and Dortmund. The two teams met in 1993 in the UEFA Cup final. The Old Lady won 6-1 over two legs. In 1997, the Germans got their revenge, also in the final, winning 3-1.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich face fairly easy opponents. Real meets Shalke again. Also in this round last season, the "vultures" crushed the German representative with a total score of 9-2. Cristiano Ronaldo scored four goals.

The least watched match is Basel and Porto.

The group winners have home advantage in the second legs, on March 10, 11, 17 and 18. The first legs are on February 17, 18, 25 and 26.
