(Baonghean.vn) - The convoy was caught while gathering on the old National Highway 1A in Nghi Loc district, trying to escape the mobile weighing station.

On the afternoon of April 16, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vinh, Deputy Chief Inspector of Nghe An Department of Transport, said that the authorities have not yet been able to complete the load inspection of the above-mentioned convoy of timber-carrying trucks because the drivers are still uncooperative.

The working group at the mobile weighing station has not yet weighed the loads of these timber trucks due to the drivers' lack of cooperation.

Earlier, at around 11pm, a working group of the Department of Transport inspectors discovered six cars stopped at the old section of National Highway 1A at the end of Nghi Loc district. When the inspectors approached, the drivers showed an uncooperative attitude by closing the car doors and leaving.

After a period of unsuccessful persuasion, the task force had to mobilize a crane to enforce the move. At this time, the drivers agreed to move their vehicles to the mobile weighing station in Dien An. However, the drivers still did not present their documents.

Mr. Vinh said that by the afternoon of April 16, the force at the weighing station had just checked the load of truck with license plate 37C-134.47, and the results showed that this truck was carrying wood that exceeded its load capacity by nearly 200%. The remaining 5 trucks still could not be weighed because the drivers did not cooperate.

“For overloading by more than 100%, the driver will be fined from 7 to 8 million VND, the joint fine if the vehicle owner is a business will be fined from 32 to 36 million VND, the vehicle owner is an individual will be fined from 16 to 18 million VND, the total expected fine can be up to 40 million VND/vehicle” – Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vinh said.

Previously, from April 6-13, provincial authorities inspected and handled 33 overloaded timber trucks from 10% to 100%, with an estimated fine of nearly VND500 million. Traffic inspectors also forced 350 timber trucks to unload through Nam Can border gate (Ky Son district).
