Speaking on Downing Street on the morning of June 4, British Prime Minister Theresa May said that Britain had just experienced its third terrorist attack in three months, following the bombing at Manchester Arena in late May and the car crash on Westminster Bridge in March.
At around 10pm on 3 June, a group of three suspected terrorists drove a car into civilians on London Bridge, then got out at Borough Market and stabbed people indiscriminately. The attack left seven people dead and 48 others injured. Three terrorists were shot dead by police on the spot.

According to Mrs May, the attackers were bound by radical Islam. “It cannot be defeated by continuing to fight terrorism, but only by guiding people to good values,” Mrs May said.
The British Prime Minister called on the government to review anti-terrorism laws, extend prison sentences for some offences and ensure police have the necessary powers to stop attackers.

In addition, Mrs. May also asked the international community to strengthen control of Islamic extremism on the Internet, not creating conditions for terrorists to have a "safe operating space" online.
Mrs May announced that election campaigns will restart tomorrow, June 5.
The UK general election will still take place as scheduled on June 8.
