Captured wanted suspect after more than 30 years on the run

Through the investigation, the Criminal Police Department discovered that Nguyen Van Truc (born in 1963), residing in Dien Hanh Commune, Dien Chau District, had similar characteristics to Pham Minh Thanh (born in 1965), residing in Dien Hanh Commune, Dien Chau District, currently residing in Thanh Phu Commune, Co Do District, Can Tho City. The Criminal Police Department reported to the Head of the Nghe An Police Investigation Agency to establish a special project to arrest the subject.

During the process of fighting the case, applying synchronous professional measures, the task force identified Pham Minh Thanh as Nguyen Van Truc, residing in Dien Hanh commune, Dien Chau district. This subject was sentenced to more than 3 years in prison by the People's Court of Dien Chau district for the crime of "Theft of socialist property". However, during the process of serving his sentence at the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center, Nguyen Van Truc escaped to the southern provinces.

After escaping, the subject continuously changed his residence and did many jobs to make a living. When he escaped to Dak Lak province, Nguyen Van Truc changed his name to Pham Minh Thanh and stayed there. Later, the subject got married and had 3 children. At the end of 1992, the subject brought his wife and children to Co Do farm in Thanh Phu commune, Co Do district, Can Tho city to live.

After having all the relevant evidence and documents, on March 5, the Investigation Committee sent a working group to Can Tho city to coordinate with the Criminal Police Department of Can Tho Police and related units to verify and arrest. At 7:00 p.m. on March 13, the working group successfully arrested the subject at his private home.

After that, the working group escorted the subject and handed him over to the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center for handling according to regulations.
