International wanted fugitive arrested after more than a year in hiding in South Korea

The Investigation Security Agency (ISA) of Quang Ninh Provincial Police coordinated with functional units of the Ministry of Public Security and the Border Police of Da Nang International Airport to arrest internationally wanted subject Tran Thi Chung when she was deported from South Korea to Vietnam on flight 7C2261 (Jeju Air), entering Da Nang International Airport. Immediately after, the subject was escorted to Quang Ninh Provincial Police to be handled according to the provisions of law.

Tran Thi Chung, a wanted subject of special danger, was arrested by the Investigation Security Agency of Quang Ninh Provincial Police as soon as she entered Vietnam.

Previously, on March 4, 2024, the Investigation Security Agency (ISA) of Quang Ninh Provincial Police issued a Decision to prosecute Tran Thi Chung (born in 1989), residing in Duc Xuan village, Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province, for the act of "Organizing others to flee abroad" according to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 349 of the Penal Code, in the case of "Organizing and brokering for others to flee abroad illegally; forging seals and documents of agencies and organizations" occurring in Quang Ninh province and several other localities.

When the authorities dismantled a ring that organized many Vietnamese people to leave the country to South Korea under the guise of tourism to stay and work illegally, Tran Thi Chung - one of the main subjects in the ring - fled to South Korea.

On March 16, 2024, the Investigation Security Agency of Quang Ninh Provincial Police issued a decision to search for a particularly dangerous person and requested an international warrant for this subject.

Based on the request of the Vietnamese side, the Korean National Police Agency verified the immigration information and residence of Tran Thi Chung.

On June 12, the subject was arrested by Korean authorities and deported back to his country.

Related to the case, there are a number of wanted subjects who are on the run, including Nguyen Van Chien (born 1985), residing in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province; Bui Thi Thuy Hanh (born 1985); Le Sy Dong (born 1984), both residing in Ha An commune, Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province.

The Investigation Security Agency of Quang Ninh Province Police requested the subjects to surrender soon to enjoy leniency under the law.
