Arrested a subject transporting 6 rare wild cats

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 18, Major Tran Van Hung, Captain of Team 2 of the Environmental Police Department (PC 49) of Nghe An Provincial Police, said that at 6:00 p.m. on March 17, on National Highway 7 in Con Cuong town, the unit caught a case of transporting rare wild animals.

The seized evidence was 6 wild cats that had been shot dead, weighing 18kg, belonging to group 2B of rare animals in need of protection. The arrested subject was Le Thi Tu Oanh (born in 1982, residing in Chi Khe commune, Con Cuong district).

According to Major Hung, after nearly a month of surveillance, on the afternoon of March 17, Le Thi Tu Oanh was arrested while using a scooter with license plate 37Z6 - 7326 to transport 6 wild cats that were shot dead on the way to Vinh city.

"Le Thi Tu Oanh stated that she personally purchased the evidence from some poachers in the forest in the area and was on her way to resell it to a person in Vinh city for more than 8 million VND when she was arrested," said Major Hung.

PC 49 Department said that currently, all documents, evidence and subjects are being handed over by PC 49 Department to Con Cuong district police to continue to complete the handling according to the law.
